“For a Wednesday Night Date”
Reviewed March 7, 2012

I had forgotten how cozy and classy this place feels, perfect for a rainy night. They offer an array of enticing custom cocktails, the staff are professional and sharp. The decor includes a painting with a cherubim sitting on the crescent moon, leather banquettes with the springs worn out, and floor to ceiling windows for you to peer out onto 3rd Ave and Stuyvesant St. great location, 2nd floor behind the japanese grill restaurant. It's usually crowded, hard to get a seat, they only allow 4 or less as a group. I wouldn't go on a Saturday night. But Wednesdays....perfect.

Not your typical japanese. Edgy exciting sub culture. Its both underground and high class at the same time. Highly reccomended. Great for a date.

“great cocktails, but not for groups.”
Reviewed June 14, 2011

Love the cocktails even though it's expensive...hate the max 4 per table rule.

We had a group of 4 and a friend happened to pop over and we were just finishing our drinks before heading off for dinner together. We had the booth seats and she can simply squeeze in with us, with no interruption to other guests. And honestly, we were planning to leave in ten minutes for our dinner reservation.

The server curtly told us about the max 4 rule, and proceeded to bring us the check even though we told him that we were leaving very soon. *Bleh*!

“nice experience!”
Reviewed September 7, 2010

Nice, balanced drinks for 13 us dollars in a hidden place behind a restaurant.

Service demands 15-20% in tip for drinks, i think thats to much to tip for a drink, ok for food but not in a bar.

“A hidden gem....”
Reviewed September 30, 2009

We only stumbled across this place after finding a book about New York's best secret bars... and finding it was a small, but exciting mission....
We knew to go to the 2nd floor of a Japanese restuarant... but the taxi driver couldn't find the road, and when he did and we leapt out, there were 3 Japanese restuarants! Eventually we plumped for the middle one and climbed the stairs, and there was the unmarked door on the left! We marched towards it confidently, with the agreement that if it was a broom cupboard we would march straight out again. Luckily, the door opened to reveal a swanky bar and nice people, and we only had to wait for 1 minute for some seating.
Atmosphere was good and the drinks very nice, though not overly my sort of place (check out the Back Room if you want secret and livelier!). I'd definitely take friends back though.
