Description: Bistro Chat Noir is a hidden gem located within an elegant, street-level townhouse in the heart of New York City's fashionable upper east side. The menu's extraordinary continental cuisine offers a subtle nod to the owner's French and North Carolinian roots. Guests may dine alfresco on our covered terrace or step inside and feel as if they have time-traveled to a fine Parisian cafe. Terrace is pet friendly. Bon appetit!

I stopped here completely by chance on a Saturday night, and got a seat at the bar, since the rest of the place was booked up. The service was very friendly, and I thoroughly enjoyed my steak tartare and Prosecco. I was very pleased with the experience, and would definitely recommend this place.

Wonderful little bistro close to Central Park. Great spot for a quiet dinner or a heart-to-heart talk. Food was delicious and beautifully plated. Onion soup and blue cheese olives for the martinis were standouts.

This was recommended to us at the Loews hotel where we were staying. It was a very cute bistro and reminded me of being in Paris. Menu was very traditional french bistro, which is exactly what I wanted. Excellent!

We had lunch at Chat Noir on a Saturday and enjoyed a wonderful meal. The coq au vin was excellent and perfect for a cold day. We also tried their salad with artichokes. The best part was the chocolate souffle for dessert, a real highlight! Highly recommend.

The food here is quite good - nothing exceptional in our limited exposure. But the reason I would not come back is the cost of a glass of wine - $17 for the least expensive red. New York City restaurant wine prices are generally outrageous but this is beyond all reason. Maybe it is an East Side phenomenon, I tend to not be often in this area. The food is not inexpensive either - $40 for a salmon fillet. Again maybe this is a normal bistro price for the East Side. The tables are close side by side. Our service was excellent. No music that we were aware of - that's a real plus.
