“A jewel in the desert”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

While southeast New Mexico abounds with mom 'n pop places with great food, we seem to be lacking in establishments that offer a fine dining experience. That is where the Trinity Hotel Restaurant comes in.

Our most recent visit was to celebrate my birthday, and we were able to score our favorite table - in the loft overlooking the lower dining room. The service was excellent, with the wait staff being friendly and attentive without hovering or making us feel rushed. They were knowledgeable about their food offerings and were able to help steer me towards a gluten-free offering. The special - blackened orange roughy with a Cajun cream sauce and rice and fresh veggies - was fabulous and paired perfectly with the Luna Rossa Pinot Grigio we picked out while doing our wine tasting before dinner.

Since it was my birthday, they treated me to a dish of toasted marshmallow ice cream - which was fun and fabulous.

The Trinity is our go-to place when we want a get-away from Roswell, and meals like this keep us heading back that way.

“House wine very good”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Skip the appetizers- small portion. Order house wines. Sometimes a reservation needed- sometimes it is almost empty.

“Over-Rated, But Adaquate”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

The ambiance is quite nice. It is an old hotel made mostly into a restaurant that aspires to be an upscale establishment. The prices aren't too bad. The service was good. But the food... If you are an avid Olive Garden fan you will like it and see nothing wrong with it. I had a dish that advertised itself as being a local, original take on Pesto sauce. So I was surprised when the dish came and it was a very average, standard Pesto sauce based dish. That is not to say it was bad. It was competently presented. It was just nothing special, and did not have the freshness I would expect from an upscale restaurant. My wife had a sausage-pasta dish that was similar. It was a competent, but not outstanding job. The sausage had a taste that is difficult to define other than to say it tasted like less than high-quality sausage. Again, not a bad restaurant, but far from a great one. I will say that from what I saw of Carlsbad, it may have been the best of the lot.

We are so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience at The Trinity hotel, however we feel you may have us confused with another restaurant due to the fact that we have never served a special with a pesto sauce. We appreciate your kind words about the service have a great day!

“Good service, food just ok”
Reviewed June 19, 2014

Restaurant seems to be the place to go in town and is trying hard. I though the food was ok, but nothing to write home about (of course Im doing that now). Basic dishes but not a lot of taste. They are also into wine and trying hard to be good in that area. E for effort, and couple of their brands were not bad. Again staff behind the bar (wine tasting ) and waiters were pleasant and did a great job.

“Definitely give it a try!”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

We stayed at The Trinity Hotel and ate all of our meals in the restaurant. The suppers were very good and the ambiance was nice & comfortable. The night servers were OK, not that they did anything wrong, but the morning servers were amazing! They really helped to put a happy spin on the day...the breakfasts were excellent too! We had the same thing both days - oatmeal (now this was probably the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant) and my husband had the Monte Cristo which he raved about on the first day but not so much the 2nd day. Consistency in a restaurant is important so that would be my only slightly below par comment.
They have a wine tasting as well - please check the website for hours & details. It was very pleasant and the bartender really knew what he was talking about.
Oh yes & reservations are definitely recommended. We almost couldn't get in the evening we arrived, even though we were staying at the hotel.
We will eat there again!
