as part of a nice day trip away from Asheville be sure to visit this gem..which recounts the life of Carl Sanburg and his family.. since the the home was left intact from Sandburg 's death in 1967..the tour of the house gives an interesting observation of the Sandburg life and the grounds are a wonderful bonus for children with an active goat farm.. kudos to the nat park service and its team of 100 + volunteers for operting this gem!

This is the name of the Carl Sandburg Home, so it is the same site. The house tour was well done and very worth the while. The house is packed with the family's original furniture and possessions and our guide was excellent.

Beautiful site! We enjoyed the goats and the volunteers were informative. We took the house tour with a wonderful guide -- don't miss it! It gives you insight into Carl Sandburg and his family.

Guided tour, nice grounds, not far from the city but a bit of a steep walk if you are disabled or older in order to get up to the house. Has walking trails.

The grounds are lovely, the house tour very interesting and it has been left just as it was when the Sandburg family lived there. Mrs. Sandburg had a goat dairy and this part of the excursion is very nice for children because the lady park rangers encourage touching the animals. Cars are parked at the foot of the hill, so be prepared for a short, but steep hike. House tour is $5.00, the rest is free including parking. A mountain gem for sure!
