Cafe Diablo is the best restaurant within a 100 miles any direction. It is well worth stopping to enjoy a great eating experience. Try the rattlesnake cakes and citrus salad for starters, and then enjoy an elegant meal. However, come early or make a reservation, because Cafe Diablo always has plenty of customers.

Every time we stay in Torrey it is our pleasant tradition to eat once at the wonderful Cafe Diablo. This place provides a true upscale dining experience but without any of the pretentions of city restaurants. I understand the owner/chef is classically trained and came to us from NYC. The menu is eclectic and broad, and every meal we have had or seen is carefully prepared, plated, and served by cheerful young people who are knowledgeable about the food.

We made the "mistake" this time of ordering appetizers to precede our entrees, and there was simply too much food. We four decided that it would be best to order two or three appetizers and no entrees, or no appetizers before the large entree plates. Each according to one's own appetites, for sure, but we regretted not being able to finish our fabulous entrees.

The only possible knock on this place can be that it is very pricey, especially for the area--but not for the overall experience, I suppose. The meals are beautifully plated and every item we ordered was delicious.

This is recommended locally as a 'five star' experience. It is very busy and buzzing. The food is superbly presented and portions are large. However, it is nothing special given the prices which are way higher than anywhere else in the town. Don't get me wrong, it is nice but maybe not all it is made out to be.

Excellent and friendly service. Food was very good, but a little on the pricey side. Had the rattlesnake apps and pork.
