“Beautiful”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

I love Lighthouses and we are so lucky to have so many here. I love that there is no parkingproblem, and everytime we went it was so clean. The overlook is so beautiful.

“Great Day”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Make sure to stay all day. Bring picnic, bathing suits, walking shoes. September is a great time to go. Weather was wonderful and the island you don't want to leave.

“Great day”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

This gem of a barrier island has it all, pristine beaches, cool light house, camping and dog friendly. Being your own food and water and make time to relax on one of the most serene beaches around.

“Loved this!!”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

Will go again!!
Typical of the Park Service, everyone was helpful in planning our trip. Please note that the LIghthouse is not open all year for visiting and we were told to eat before we got on the ferry over to the Lighthouse. Great tip! Good fried food and all sorts of eats at the Fish Hook. Good day trip for all ages! There r cabins for camping out on Cape Lookout....that sounded like fun!

“Amazing destination on the edge of the continent”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

One of the most pristine and natural barrier islands left in the United States. And while the soundside beach around the lighthouse gets crowded at peak times, a short walk in any direction gets you to your own beach. "The Bight" is a haven for sailboats and is the only real snorkeling spot on the Crystal Coast. The lighthouse is iconic and you can climb it, but you need to make sure it's open when you want to go. It costs $8 for adults and $4 for kids and they limit the number of tickets they sell.

Bring food and drink because bottled water is the only refreshment they sell. There are no trash cans so be prepared to haul your trash back.

The ocean side beach is mostly east facing and is superior to the beaches on Bogue Banks in every way.
