Title says it all. The sandwiches were good - nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either. For the quality, a $1 or so less, even with somewhat inflated OBX prices, might be more in line.

Dropped by on a Tuesday for lunch, after driving around Alligator River NWR. Ordered the pork chop special with veggies. The cashier at the counter had trouble ringing in the special, and when I gave her $20.70 for a total bill of $10.71 (I had exactly 70 cents in my pocket), she proceeded to count out $9.99 in change. Bizarre. She was so focused on giving me the exact change instead of rounding up a penny, she forgot to give me my cup for the fountain pop. Not a good start. Now I started to wonder about ordering a pock chop at a sandwich shop?

Then the food arrived, with a pleasant smile by another woman, presumably a kitchen staffer. Huge portion with a very thick, perfectly cooked pork chop that didn't need a knife but was not fatty. Delicious mild pepper gravy on done-right white rice, and a mixture of carrots and broccoli. Beautifully home cooked, and really hit the spot.

Food was excellent, but the staff seemed bored and didn't care about first impressions or that I was from a different country.

We dropped by Poor Richard's for a quick bite on a Sunday afternoon. This place had the rudest employees I have ever encountered. The food (chicken philly) was pretty good, but the sour attitudes were ridiculous! Totally clueless about what wines they had (it was like pulling teeth to find out what they had.) Occasionally, a staff member would meander out to serve someone on the back porch. Every single time, they would plop the food down on the table without saying a word, and walk away. Overall, decent food, horrid attitudes.
