“Really takes you back in time!”

This place is so worth the $6 (free for kids under 5) its educational, the staff is so friendly and informative. My kids ages 5,8 &12 all enjoyed this. We were trying to go to the aquarium on a gloomy vacation day but when we saw the line out past the parking lot there, we decided to go to island farm instead and i am so glad we did! I Highly reccomend going there!

“Hands on kids paradise!”
Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

The highlight of our trip to manteo. We were so impressed with the staff because of their knowledge and friendliness. The whole place was hands on. The kids fed chickens rode in an ox cart, played period games, tried on period clothes, watched cooking and blacksmith demonstration, and even my shy kid fell in love with the staff. The staff encouraged you to touch and explore the house and even experience laying on the beds! So much fun!!!!

“Wonderful experience!”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

There is truly something for everyone at Island Farm. It was very educational and interactive. We were able to feed chickens (they ate from our hands!) and my daughter collected eggs from the hen house and took them to the cook house. The most exciting part was riding in a cart pulled by an ox! Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgable. The staff was truly wonderful and made you feel as if you were back in the 1800s. This is a must-see for every family. It is so refreshing to leave all of the technology behind and embrace a much simpler life. It also makes you appreciate all of the hard work our ancestors performed.

“Unexpected find!”

We brought our 4 children to the farm and loved it! Everything was hands on and they were actually invited to touch and try everything. We enjoyed the oxen ride, the period games and the grounds very much!

“Fun day!”
Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

We had a wonderful time at this small farm last fall. It was so interesting and historical. We were able to make corn husk dolls and they were also making candles that day. You are able to to tour the buildings and cabin on the property which were very well maintained. We purchased some heirloom seeds from the farm and are waiting for them to sprout in our garden right now. Definitely recommend.
