The Roanoke Island Inn delights on every level. The staff is friendly without being intrusive, and they make every part of the stay enjoyable. The public spaces are welcoming and gracious, while the room we had was comfortable, relaxing, and beautiful. We were on the garden side, with a bay window and a very comfortable bed. This spacious, clean, and most of all, liveable room is an easy one in which to relax.

Our only issue with the room, and this is really minor, is that bedside plug-ins for technology are becoming pretty necessary, and they're at a premium in these rooms. It's not much of a problem, since we're going to start traveling with a power-strip. I just don't want my Kindle going dark when the book gets to the good bit.

The second floor breezeway between the two parts of the Inn is one of the most delightful spaces I've ever experienced, and we spent a whole rainy morning up there in the rocking chairs reading, drawing, and looking at the beautiful world. The views of garden and sound are both lovely relaxing. One morning we ate our breakfast in the folly, and at that point, I thought I might never be able to tear myself away. When you stay at the Inn, you are within easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, Festival Park, and the harbor, and Manteo is full of charming nooks and crannies to explore. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: The water views are nice, but don't discount the garden. It's very quiet and peaceful, and...

Our room was lovely, comfortable and spotless. Dee was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. She was so helpful and went above and beyond the norm. The garden was absolutely beautiful for our friend's wedding. We had a wonderful time and I would love to go back and stay there again.

During our many years travel to the Nags Head area our favorite destination is Roanoke Island Inn in Manteo. You could say it is the journey's end; a truly unexpected delight that rekindles ones Holiday spirt of past. Unique in its design, history, heritage and modern day hospitality it is an escape, quite, relaxing, and non-evasive. Yet for the young at heart only steps away to dreamy meals and passive adventure along the sound. We found a pearl. Wonderful visit! Andy G would be proud.

Room Tip: Rooms 1,2, and 3 are on the first floor. Just a few stair steps. Room 3, our favorite has a king siz...

This was our first trip to the OBX- we were there for a wedding. Decided to stay on Roanoke Island to be in central location. The Roanoke Island Inn was such a nice place to stay- we felt right at home. It was private- more so than the B&Bs we stay in, but lot of amenities, such as the continental breakfast and open pantry for snacks that came in very handy many times during our 5 day stay there.

Maybe the best part though was the people- such a great group there- Dee and Sara and Whitney and Connie and Gina. We bought one of Gina's pictures that you see hanging in the backyard- it is just gorgeous and serves as a reminder of our lovely time at the Roanoke Inn.

We stayed in room 4 on 2nd level-loved the view and the rocking chairs on the porch! Just don't let your spouse pull the blinds all the way down at night or you will miss the beautify view of the boats in the harbor when you awaken.

This inn is an idyllic honeymoon/vacation spot. The front garden area has engraved headstones for one cat and 3 Irish Setters! If they treat their pets like this, you know how they treat their guests. Rooms were spotless & comfortable and every room has a magnificent view of either the water or their wonderful gardens. They even have a gardener who paints (and you can buy a painting as a remembrance of your visit). We were doing a tour of the Outer Banks and stopped in Manteo first. This B&B was by far the best one of the entire week (and we stayed in 4 of them). Also memorable was the porch upstairs. We met the coolest people while out there having a drink in the evenings. All in all - an experience to remember. I know why it's the #1-rated B&B in Manteo.

Room Tip: Rooms on upper floor are good because no one is tromping overhead. Otherwise, depending on what view...

Very nice stay. Very pretty view and the location is perfect for a short walk to downtown. The grounds were very well kept and the koi fish pond was very relaxing to read by. The Inn staff was very helpful and suggested a number of wonderful things to do that we might have missed if not for their input. The also very politely handled a few visitors being a little too loud one morning.

Room Tip: Being a historic inn, there are tighter circular steps to the upstairs rooms so pick the downstairs...
