My 13 year old daughter and I spent 2 nights here. We stayed in the Turret Room which is beautiful and very feminine. The entire B&B is beautiful and Bob, Bebe and the staff could not be more accommodating and willing to answer questions about the area. The breakfast was delicious. As the weather was good, it was served on the verandah which was a great way to start the day. The location is so convenient for walking down to the waterfront and the activities there. The snacks, drinks and water in the room all were very much appreciated. We do hope to return in the future.

The White Doe has the charm of an old Victorian house with all the necessary amenities. Beautiful garden, but neighbors can play loud music. We stayed in the Turret Room, very spacious and well-appointed, with a lovely balcony. The bed was a bit old and squeaky, but the linen was soft and we had lots of pillows. The breakfasts were spectacular and abundant. Service was excellent. Location is wonderful, walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and water edge.

We really appreciate your review to Trip Advisor and the information you provided. Just to let you know we have a bed on order to replace the one you referenced in the Turret Bedchamber. The new bed is scheduled to arrive July 1, 2011. We apologize for any discomfort it may have caused during your visit.

Also, just a note to recommend when you are staying in a lodging establishment and the neighbors are noisey, please make your hosts aware so that they can request them to tone down their music. Once in awhile we have that happen and they just don't realize that the noise is disturbing their neighbors.

Thank you again for your comments. Our best information and suggestions come from our guests.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Roanoak room for 1 night and had a wonderful experience overall. Upon arrival we were welcomed warmly and taken on a brief tour of the B&B, given information about things to do & restaurants in the area, etc. Everyone was very friendly but completely non-intrusive, which we both greatly appreciated. The afternoon/evening snacks were outstandingly tasty, as was the 4-course breakfast. We liked the fact that the snacks, drinks, etc. were available in a common area for guests to help themselves at any time, as opposed to having to ask or have limited access or time to enjoy. The bed was massive and super-comfortable; the shower was huge and included all sorts of adjustable massaging jets - pretty neat. We enjoyed watching the owners' cat during our breakfast on the outdoor patio - he was very social and appeared to own the place himself. We also enjoyed taking the tandem bicycle out for a tour of downtown Manteo - added a nice romantic touch to our stay. (Note - for anyone planning to use the tandem bike, be forewarned that the brakes are out of adjustment to the point that they don't work at all - not a major issue, unless you approach an intersection at speed, since Manteo is completely flat.)

This was our eighth visit to White Doe and it just keeps getting better each time! We chose this time to stay in the Turret, a room we'd stayed in before renovations. We loved the new access to the balcony and the lovely and soothing color scheme. Owners Bob and Bebe and Manager Beth are all excellent hosts and we consider them to have become our friends, as well. Food tastes are subjective, of course, but we find the breakfasts to be delicious, creative and filling and a special treat when the weather allows them to be served on the lovely and fragrant veranda. My husband has a dairy allergy, but they have always accommodated him with dairy-free, tasty versions of the regular fare that day, or a delicious substitute. We have stayed in 6 of the 8 rooms, and love them all--hard to pick a favorite. We love coming home after a busy day (exploring Manteo--its shops, history, and restaurants, and the lighthouses, beaches and nature centers of the Outer Banks), and enjoying coffee and homemade desserts and snacks in our room. We can spend a relaxing evening reading, playing a game or watching one of Bob's many DVD's, in front of a cozy fire in the privacy of our room.
Our experience with the kitchen and housekeeping staff has been excellent, and the nice touches such as a nightly turn-down service, romantic music CD's, and daily bottled water left in the room each morning and evening are much appreciated extras.
Most of all, we feel very comfortable there and plan to continue our annual trips there...and even an occasional semi-annual visit, for good measure!!
We give the White Doe Inn, its owners and staff the highest possible recommendation!!

A lovely and restful place to stay in Manteo. Our third or fourth visit, and we'll come back again.
