“Do it. Go to the Beachcomber.”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

I love all of the different vibes in different parts of the Cape, and the Beachcomber really provides the feeling of being away from it all. The beach is beautiful, and it's more than just convenience that draws crowds up the dunes to the Beachcomber. Sitting at the bar overlooking the ocean, you feel miles away from any troubles. The drinks are good and strong, and the seafood is done right. I had some fried belly clams and a gussied-up Cape Codder (or two). Everyone behind the bar was friendly and chill, which extended to the clientele. We drove from New York and didn't stop til we hit Wellfleet for the express purpose of checking this place (and Cahoon Hallow) out. I'm sure it's touristy but it also seems like a Cape Cod institution. I hope I get to go back soon.

“A Cape Cod Classic”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

The Beachcomber has been a Wellfeet institution for as long as I can remember, and I have spent every summer of my 50+ years on the Cape.

The "Comber" sits on top of tall sand dunes at Cahoon Hollow Beach in Weffleet, the site of an old Coast Guard station during WWII. It is great for lunch with the kids in a casual setting, either indoors or out, but it is best known as a bar for a more adult crowd.

Great music, drinks and atmosphere. If you are on the outer Cape you have to check it out.

“Nice place to chill”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

If you're at the Cape with friends, this is an excellent place to relax with a cold one. The live music is usually pretty good, and the beach views down the hill behind it are great. I recommend this as a great place to chill with friends or your sweetie, then take a walk along the beach. The hill back up to parking is a little steep but good exercise.

“A must-see, but plan well”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

Cahoon Hollow Beach and the Beachcomber are a part of the fiber that is Wellfleet. That being said, if you're heading out to Wellfleet, you have to go at least once. The food is very casual and the atmosphere laid back. During high season, there are lots of nights of live music that's worth checking out, too.

But, the parking lot is too small, so plan your day trip carefully. I recommend making a day of it and arriving at the lot by 10 if possible. On most days, there are cars of people waiting to get in to this parking lot. As one of the few beaches you can go to without a beach sticker and the only one with a restaurant (and a restaurant that will validate your parking to make it free!), it fills quickly.
