Hadn't really planned on getting lunch in Wellfleet, but their sign out front hawking the roast pork & mashed potato special for $7.95, the sounds of clanking plates inside, and our awakening tummies changed our minds. We ventured in and were promptly seated. The building itself was charming and very clean. You could tell there were a lot of locals... always a good sign. After reviewing the menu we both opted for reubens, one traditional, one Cape Cod (fried fish with sauce & slaw, no kraut). One bite of the classic and my partner exclaimed "This is what I hope for when I order a reuben!" Loads of corned beef, lightly toasted marble bread, not too too much kraut. My Cape Cod style was wonderful. The fish was perfectly fried, the dressing & slaw were just the right touches, and the fries were great, too! Both meals were very satisfying and filling. So glad we stopped in!

Folks know the Lighthouse as a reliable spot for an honest drink and a satisfying meal. No pretense, just friendly service and a nice meal. We're locals, so we enjoy sampling Wellfleet, Truro and some Provincetown spots on an occasional basis. The Lighthouse is dependable but far from pretentious. Every New England town has one or two "townie" places. This is an exemplar of how good a "townie" spot can be. Enjoy the local seafood and the local color.

My husband and I stop at the Lighthouse for lunch a couple of times a week when we stay on the Cape. Our number one favorite lunch dish is drunken mussels. This time we both ordered them. The orders was on the skimpy side. The sauces in our dishes were both different. Mine was a clear sauce and my husbands was a milky, white sauce.(neither of them that good). Also, we usually get a crusty bread with it. None came with the mussels so we ask the waitress. She in turn brought us each a small wheat tea bun size roll. Actually, nothing we wanted to dip in our mussel sauce. We will have to find a new "Best Place" for our drunken mussels.

My wife and I had just toured the harbor area of Wellfleet and improved the economic condition of some of the shops on main street when we decided to drop into the Lighthouse Restaurant & Sports Bar.
Since it was the shoulder season on Cape Cod it wasn't busy but a pretty good crowd was there for lunch. Our waitress was at first a bit cold but when we asked her some questions about the building the restaurant was in she became very out going and also was a wealth of information.
I had a Cape Cod reuben which was cod fish, cole slaw and thousand island dressing. It came with some really good fries also. The sandwich was filling but unlike a classical reuben you didn't fill overly full.
If you're in Wellfleet it is definitely a place to relax and have a good meal.
