Description: Closed for the winter. See you May 2017 When we first opened Moby Dick’s in ‘83, we had no idea we’d become an establishment on Cape Cod. We simply wanted to start a BYOB restaurant that had fresh seafood, a relaxed environment, and a friendly staff that would make people feel at home. Well, three decades later, we’re still doing exactly that, opening every season in May to the delight of locals and visitors alike. Some people stop in for our lobster rolls while others come for an old-fashioned bucket of steamers. But everyone knows they can come to us for fresh family fun and a dining experience in Wellfleet they'll never forget.

We made 2 trips to Mobey Dicks as usual.. We go on arrival and departure days. Food is always delicious. Nice fresh seafood. Also great choices for non seafood eaters. Only 1 complaint- the blooming onion and French fries need to be cooked a little longer.

With Cape Cod being a favorite destination of ours we have eaten at Moby Dick's several times. The seafood dishes are excellent; the casual atmosphere is welcoming. With the crowds that are served, the waiting in line, ordering of the food at the counter, being seated at your table, and being served your food all work like clockwork. Perhaps the reason is the owners. With all the times I've been in the restaurant, I have never been there when either the husband and/or wife have not been present helping their crew and the customers.

Stopped by for lunch after touring Highland Lighthouse. Menu is posted on large menu boards when you enter the restaurant. You stand in line and place your order. The cashier asks if you will be sitting in the upper screened in porch or in the inside dining room. We opted for the screened in porch as it was a beautiful day. Food is brought to you by the servers. I had the fried scallop plate ($20.99). It was a generous portion of fried scallops with french fries and coleslaw. DH had the lobster roll platter ($20.99) that also came with french fries and coleslaw. Both meals were very tasty. Server came over to clear our table and ask if we would like dessert. Got a piece of Key Lime pie that was very good. No nonsense kind of place. It's BYOB. Servers were friendly. Would come back if I were in the area. Would not drive miles and miles to come here as there are other seafood places on the Cape equally good or better.

Wall-to-wall lobster, no filler. If you like fresh, tender lobster, order a lobster roll at Moby's. We take some home every year to share with family.

Overall I found this to be average, and would probably not go back. We (4 adults) went at around 6pm on a Tuesday in August, about a 20 minute wait in line. Casual place, tourist seaside decor, bring your own beer and wine, order and pay at a register and they bring you the food. Very touristy and no frills. Service was brisk and pretty efficient, servers were nice, the place was pretty clean. We had a pound of mussels and 6 oysters for apps. Three of us got lobster rolls, no sides, 18 dollars each (not even any fries or cole slaw) - one ordered chicken (not bad, two sides were pretty good - 17 dollars). Portion and freshness on the lobster roll was pretty good, my hot dog bun roll was kind of stale. I work in Boston, live near Rockport & Gloucester (North Shore MA), go to Portsmouth NH a lot, and just got back from P.E.I. At all of these places I have had better portions, a tastier lobster roll, and the mussels and oysters were better in terms of taste and portion size. So if you are passing by Rt. 6 it might be ok, people seem to like the scallops or crab cakes so maybe that would be better.

DelQuint, Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to share your comments. We are a very simple New England style clam shack. We buy the absolute best we can. We have an amazing staff that will go out of their way for our guests. All that being said I am sorry that you did not have an incredible experience. We do sell lobster rolls by themselves and we also do a lobster roll platter which is a lobster roll and two sides (usually cole slaw and french fries but you can have whatever you want). I hope that if/when you are in the area again you will give us another chance. I am sure that you will not be disappointed! best, Todd Barry (Owner)
