Description: Closed for the winter. See you May 2017 When we first opened Moby Dick’s in ‘83, we had no idea we’d become an establishment on Cape Cod. We simply wanted to start a BYOB restaurant that had fresh seafood, a relaxed environment, and a friendly staff that would make people feel at home. Well, three decades later, we’re still doing exactly that, opening every season in May to the delight of locals and visitors alike. Some people stop in for our lobster rolls while others come for an old-fashioned bucket of steamers. But everyone knows they can come to us for fresh family fun and a dining experience in Wellfleet they'll never forget.

Moby's is a MUST STOP whenever you are in the Wellfleet area of Cape Cod. The menu is balanced for those who don't eat delicious seafood. The staff is polite, the clean up after EACH customer is thorough, and the décor is seaside interesting. The attention given to customers by the owners is genuine and they are always striving to make your dining experience perfect. Moby's is our very favorite place to eat!!! Yum!!!

“Our All Time Favorite”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

There is nothing I don't love about Moby Dick's Restaurant! This week we have gone three times. The first was with an old school chum and her mate. They both had lobster (he the boiled dinner and she the very generous lobster roll), my husband had his favorite oyster po boy and I had the broiled salmon dinner. Moby's cooks the salmon perfectly every time and I love every bite! The second time was with a group of friends who meet regularly at various venues. We had such a delicious variety of dishes from seafood kabobs to caesar salads (mine with grilled salmon of course) to fish and chips, rich creamy clam chowders, steamers (YUM) and more! I is such fun when we get together there as we can sit at a long table with our buckets of ice (provided by Moby's) to hold our bottles of wine. As an aside, this is one of the many reasons we like to go there as we can bring our own wine which definitely keeps the costs down! Finally our third visit (and one of many over the summer)...our family ranging in age from 2 to 66 years! There is gratefully something for everyone, from hot dogs and grilled cheese to lobster bisque and fried clams. Heaven!

“Over rated and a bit spendy”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

We had a recent dinner there and it was NOT very good. The service was fine but the meals served up weren't the best for the price. Afterwards we said we'd wished we had gone to a better full service restaurant. For twenty dollars my scallop plate was lacking not only in the amount of scallops but how poorly they were cooked. Served rubbery and cold. The corn was overcooked too. Ditto the Cod Plate-overcooked, bland and underwhelming portion size.
When dining there it's similar to a take out meal brought to you at an indoor picnic table, after ordering at a counter by the entrance.
All utensils are plastic, served on paper plates/bowls and tiny little containers of butter, sour cream etc.
I don't quite understand why so many think this place is so great. For the same or lesser amount there are much higher quality establishments available nearby.
And do SKIP the overly sweet barely edible Key Lime Pie and Blueberry crumble desserts-awful.
We won't be returning anytime soon. Maybe it's really good for deep-fried food and lobsters only.
Don't bother with other fresh seafood here.

“Favorite new place”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Just a great meal. Lightly fried scallops were wonderful. Broiled cod sandwich was perfect. Fried shrimp-great and the slaw is tops. Oh and BYOB, wonderful. Order at the counter from the young lady with great customer service. They bring you your food. Owner or GM is just a nice guy and real genuine. Went there twice in the week and will go back again and again. Great prices I should add.
Thanks,

“Still one of the best!”

If you've shied away from Moby Dick's because it looks like a tourist trap, do yourself a favor and stop in. Their food is just terrific, particularly the clam chowder and clam bellies. It is not inexpensive though it is very casual. However the food is great and the atmosphere is very relaxing. They even accommodated our dog by seating us out back.
