Description: Closed for the winter. See you May 2017 When we first opened Moby Dick’s in ‘83, we had no idea we’d become an establishment on Cape Cod. We simply wanted to start a BYOB restaurant that had fresh seafood, a relaxed environment, and a friendly staff that would make people feel at home. Well, three decades later, we’re still doing exactly that, opening every season in May to the delight of locals and visitors alike. Some people stop in for our lobster rolls while others come for an old-fashioned bucket of steamers. But everyone knows they can come to us for fresh family fun and a dining experience in Wellfleet they'll never forget.

“Better experience this time!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2012

I kept it REAL simple this time and ordered the Nantucket Bucket- a pound of steamers and a pound of mussels, one of the better values at $17, and really enjoyed it. Both were clean, sweet and not very gritty. The owner is very hands-on, and was showing the people at the next table, who were from another part of the country how to eat steamers. If you get there before 6:30, don't expect much of a wait (at least midweek).

“Very accommodating, friendly staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2012

We had a party of 24, including many little kids. There was a long line. The staff was efficient with getting us through the door, ordering and seated. We had a nice room with 4 tables. The food selection was great - something for everyone. And the waitstaff served us with a smile. Very impressed! Thank you, Moby Dick! Thumbs up!

“Popular seafood restaurant on Outer Cape”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2012

We live in MA, but we love taking our out-of-town guests to Cape Cod for a day of beach and eating seafood. Last Friday, we had a gorgeous day beaching it at Marconi National Seashore but had enough sun by 3:30 p.m. so we left to find a place for a seafood dinner (which there are multiple places to choose from). We drove by Moby Dicks and because it was still early, there were hardly any cars in the parking lot, so we went to the Atlantic Spice store further out in North Truro. We were ready to eat after that and not wanting to drive further out on the Cape, we turned back and stopped at Moby Dicks -- and were certainly glad we did. Not only was it a good idea to stop at 5 p.m. (when we left, the line was HUGE) but the fish was so fresh. All 4 of us thought the food was delicious and were sorry we were too full to try their homemade (shipped up from the south) key lime pie.

“With few exceptions, nice restaurant.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2012

Just had lunch there today, after viewing reviews on this, and another site. Better half had the fish and chips, which she described as light and tasty. I had the whole clams, which I would rate as very good, but I've had better. Tartar sauce pretty good. No onion rings were available, which I always find strange for a seafood restaurant. Exceptional service in this semi-service setting, and very clean. Overall a great experience. If it wasn't for the just above average whole clams, and steeper than usual price for the size of the dish, I would have given it an across the board excellent rating.

“Nice Dinner Spot, but expect long wait”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012

Dinner on a Saturday night, wait for five was about 40 minutes. Staff provided menu in advance so you could order when you got to the counter. BYOB so bring your own liquor. All seafood on the menu, although I could see the token burger and chicken on the wall menus.

Food was good, but nothing spectacular. We ended up dining by 8:30 PM, which is late for small children. After the drive from Eastham, not knowing the wait, we would probably reconsider in the future, but the restaurant was fine otherwise.

Thank you for your comments. July and August is peak season on Cape Cod and you will probably have to wait at any restaurant you choose. That said, if you were able to eat earlier or stop by later in the evening you would avoid a long wait. A number of our regular families with small children come in between 5-5:30 and get in right away. We hope you'll stop in again when you are out this way!
