Gull Cottage Bed & Breakfast

Our stay at Gull Cottage was absolutely wonderful! We stayed in the private boathouse just steps from the main house and beautiful Gull and Higgins ponds. The views from the porch were spectacular and the large private accommodations were comfy and immaculate. Our hosts, Pat and Randy were very warm, interesting people and couldn't be more helpful. We started our day with an amazing breakfast of delicious food, presented beautifully. This is not your ordinary B&B and Pat and Randy are not your typical inn keepers. Gull Cottage is a true gem worth visiting over and over.

My experience at the Boathouse at Gull Cottage B&B was profoundly restorative, away from the normal hustle and bustle of life. The accommodations were charming, comfortable and very quiet. The views were amazing, overlooking both Gull and Higgins ponds. Pat and Randy's hospitality was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast, served on their screened in porch, was delicious, filling and accompanied by beautiful flowers and matching tablecloth! I so enjoyed walking around the ponds on the sandy, windy paths. I knew civilization was nearby if I needed it but I loved being away from it, closer to nature and its rhythms. Pat and Randy made sure I had everything I needed to make my stay as wonderful as it could be. The kitchenette was handy for having light dinners in and the outdoor table was a favorite spot for watching the sun set.

Due to a major bike accident last year, I was unable to travel to the Cape in 2012. So, once I was healed, we decided to return to Gull Cottage this summer to see if we could re-capture paradise. I am happy to say that the B&B and its engaging and attentive hosts, Pat and Randy, are as good as ever! The studio apartment was meticulously well appointed and squeaky clean. Everything was in working order. We loved the Keurig drip coffee and tea maker with an assortment of both. Just about a 1.5 mile bike ride from Ocean Drive and the dunes and approximately the same distance to the center of town, it is ideal for bicycle devotees and a few minutes by car. One day, after a long bike ride, we just walked a few steps through the yard to sit on the private beach on Gull Pond with a bottle of wine, some snacks and our books. Yes, Paradise does exist.

Room Tip: Only one room atop the Boathouse!

The Boathouse at Gull Cottage nests between 2 Kettle ponds and borders some wetlands, perfect for birders! What birds you couldn't see, you could hear--wonderful music. You are in for a treat if you stay at the Boathouse, it is very clean and roomy enough for 3 people. It is filled with interesting books, magazines, games, maps and even a pair of binoculars. What makes Gull Cottage different than other B&B's, is Pat and Randy. Each morning I started my day with beautiful and delicious breakfasts, interesting conversation, and a view of the kettle ponds was breathtaking! . I felt so welcome and taken care of after 3 days I starting talking about returning in the Fall. Without hesitation I highly recommend Gull Cottage, you won't be disappointed, unless, you don't like nature, warm people, delicious food or boathouses.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful three day stay at Gull Cottage. Everything about our stay was perfect, starting with the gorgeous setting and the accommodations in a thoughtfully designed and beautifully built cottage perched like a treehouse between two lakes. But what really makes Gull Cottage special are Pat and Randy, who brought a level of artistry and care to every part of our stay. The breakfasts were beautifully presented and delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed swapping stories with our hosts. By the time we left, we felt like part of the family.

We stayed at Gull Cottage for 4 nights after a busy night in Boston and a couple nights in Martha's Vineyard. The location was perfect only about 30 minutes from P Town and a short drive to Chatham and other destinations. The breakfasts and hospitality were wonderful, as we had breakfast each morning with Pat and Randy, the owners. We looked forward to the tips they gave us to local sights and the stories about the history of the cottage. The boat house, which is where vistors stay, is for one couple or group and it's everything that you need. A very nice place to relax along with a comfortable bed and a bathroom with a shower. We took lawn chairs, provided by the owners, and spent and hour or two at the lake. We enjoyed breakfast each morning in the screened in porch. During breakfast, we saw hummingbirds, chipmunks and even a fox feeding 20 feet from us! While the cottage is off the beaten path, there are many nice restaurants within 15 minutes of the B&B along with a variety of beaches and shops. This is a perfect place to get off the grid. There are no cell phone service, internet or t.v. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of having no access to technology, but if that's something you need, this would'nt be the place. We will have memories from the stay that we will hold close to our hearts. Thank you to Pat and Randy!

My 12 year old daughter and I just spent a treasured three nights at Gull Cottage, bird watching on the two ponds fronting the property and spending cozy evenings in the boathouse working on a challenging puzzle that Pat provided. The boathouse was relaxing and full to the brim of interesting books, be it nature guides, gardening, home improvement or the New York times best seller list - books for all interests were there in abundance. The shower was hot and very welcome after a cold hike in the nearby salt marshes, and the cottage was appointed with everything you could think of to make your stay as comfortable as possible - including binoculars, snacks, a beverage stocked refridgerator, and a warm beverage machine.

Even in the dead of winter we enjoyed the many outdoor nature walks in the region and were very pleased to take in the flurry of bird activity at Gull Cottage itself. We were especially happy to see that the boathouse had an indoor bird feeder that literally brought the birds into the boathouse for close observation, sightings included black cap chickadees, cardinals, nuthatches, crested titmouses, blue jays, and in the mammal variety - the cutest red squirrel hopped in once in a while. We saw many varieties of water birds on the ponds including a giant blue heron, and we even saw a young bald eagle flying low across Gull Pond one morning. And just beyond the breakfast table there were so many bird feeders that we saw countless birds every morning including several species of woodpeckers.

Enough about birds, and location - the real key to our happy stay at the Gull Pond Bed and Breakfast was Pat and Randy who were, and are, the most welcoming and interesting of hosts. They have preserved this little piece of history with such love, and they so willingly share all of their knowledge and time with their guests. The breakfasts were delicious every morning, and such care was taken to make the presentation of the meal so beautiful, that we really felt we had experienced a very special place with a very special couple.

I can't wait to come back with my husband in the spring to swim and kayak in these clear sandy-bottomed ponds, and to enjoy Pat and Randy's hospitality once again.
