Since we rented a house in spitting distance, we spent a lot of time on Great Island. Truth be told, we never went anyplace else. I love to collect shells, and there were definitely some to find (don't get me wrong - it's no Sanibel Island, but still brought home a couple of bags). Distances can be deceiving when you are walking on the beach, so don't try to go too far. We had to double-back one day, and it took a couple of hours. I think my favorite hike was the walk through the woods - a surreal place. And we saw seals, dolphins, heron, turkey vultures, a fox, and a few other things I couldn't identify!
