“Little piece of heaven”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

Since we rented a house in spitting distance, we spent a lot of time on Great Island. Truth be told, we never went anyplace else. I love to collect shells, and there were definitely some to find (don't get me wrong - it's no Sanibel Island, but still brought home a couple of bags). Distances can be deceiving when you are walking on the beach, so don't try to go too far. We had to double-back one day, and it took a couple of hours. I think my favorite hike was the walk through the woods - a surreal place. And we saw seals, dolphins, heron, turkey vultures, a fox, and a few other things I couldn't identify!

“Poorly Marked/Sections Closed”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

With a few exceptions, my wife and I enjoyed this trail, which we walked in a counterclockwise direction. For clarification, we consider this a walking trail not a hiking trail. Sections of the trail along the beach are closed due to areas which are designated as nesting areas for certain birds. Returning from Jeremy Point, the trail is poorly marked as you approach the wooded area. In retrospect, it might be easier to follow the trail in a clockwise direction. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen on a hot, sunny day. Except for being in the wooded area for a short time, there isn't any shade along the trail.

“Very nice”

This is one of the best hiking spots on the cape. You will walk through marshes, beside sand dunes, and past million dollar homes. A spectacular place.

“Spectacular, solitary beach trail”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

One of the best hiking trails for beach lovers! Just the right length (about 6 miles back and forth), with modest inclines and unbeatable ocean views. Very private, as well.

“beautiful spot on the cape”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

great place for a walk. allow about 3 hours at least. too bad but most of the beach on the bay side is closed to the public at this point. so, you have to return the way you came, and can not make a loop
