“Ooh la la!”
Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

We only visited the bakery which, because of the lateness in the day (5pm), was selling all their pastries at half price. The pastries were still amazing! Would have loved to try the bread but had to "settle" for the chocolate and plain croissant. Life is so unfair! We will definitely be back the next time we plan a picnic!

“The Chef is the Hero”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

This is a wonderful antidote to the lackluster restaurant scene on Cape Cod. On a recent visit, we shared a high quality house-made chicken liver pate, exquisitely prepared soft shell crabs and the clams in ginger/bacon sauce.

Reading some of the more critical reviews, I offer these comments.

Please remember that this is a French bistro. As such, it is important to understand that the chef is the hero. The customer is merely an unfortunate imposition of bourgeois capitalism. Remember that waiting to be served is a privilege that those who could not make a reservation are being denied. Waiting gives you time to relish and discuss what you have already enjoyed and to anticipate the next course. Waiting does not mean the kitchen is backed up and in need of a Gordon Ramsey visit. It means maximum loving attention is being devoted to ensure the perfection of what you are served, even if you cannot appreciate it.

For time-sensitive patrons with insufficient conversation to pass the time between the delectable courses, please follow the example of Seinfeld's parents and arrive at 5pm on Saturday evening. There is no early bird special but, at that hour, the wait staff are fresh and attentive and the restaurant not too busy.

Two other recommendations. Focus on the excellent selection of daily specials, as many (but not all) items on the main menu are standard fare. And order wine, not cocktails, the bar is not that well-stocked.

“Fabulous French Restaurant”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

This charmingly decorated restaurant features an open kitchen so diners can observe the action. Service is smooth and the food is superb. Shellfish are locally sourced; we delighted in fresh, briny Wellfleet oysters on the half shell, and one of my companions enjoyed an entree of baked local clams. My spring vegetable plate featured fresh peas, fava beans, and carrots over whipped potatoes, and my other companion was happy with his steak, accompanied by addictive frites which we all shared. My lavender creme brulee had such a lovely delicate flavor that I had to restrain myself from licking the plate. PB is a winner!

“I thought we were in Lyon; but somehow on Cape Cod”
Reviewed May 11, 2013 via mobile

OUTSTANDING FRENCH Bistro whose two Chefs and Maitre D' are all from Lyon. Excellent selection of entrees you find in excellent bistros in Paris. Make reservations in advance particularly in the summer. It will NOT disappoint!

“EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

I've eaten at this restaurant since it opened....the quality of the food is always excellent. Is it pricey...yes and no...all depending where you are used to dining. We ordered local scallops last week (3 with roe) price was the same as other restaurants in the area of same quality. Reading a previous review I beg to differ...I had the fish stew but did not find sand (I hope this customer told the Chef) the order would have been changed....The service is SLOW...but then everything is coked when you order. We always give ourselves at least 2-3 hours for our meal. The bakery is a must and yes it is pricey
