I have been coming to Dixie Crossroads off and on since I was a young girl. We live in Alaska so we know fresh seafood:) We try to eat there whenever we are in the area visiting family.
We took my elderly parents to Dixie Crossroads for lunch on Sunday afternoon at the height of the tourist season in Florida and were seated within 10 minutes. (Very busy but efficient restaurant)
The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The food arrived hot and prepared as ordered. Prices are higher than before but what isn't? Pricing seems appropriate for the food.

Rock shrimp are always fresh and broiled just right. Fried oysters were fresh and cooked properly. Side dishes could use a lift but that is not why you eat there. The corn fritters are the best. Watch that kids don't fill up on fritters before the food arrives.

We have grown kids coming to visit the grandparents so will eat there again before heading back to Alaska!

We came here for lunch. As we are actually locals, we enjoy going to Dixie Crossroads. My dad was in town and we decided to bring him. He's an avid seafood lover. We all enjoyed the food and had a great time.

The title pretty much says it all. They jacked their Rock Shrimp Prices through the roof and they just don't taste that good anymore.

Dixie Crossroads is a local icon. The specialty is rock shrimp -- not many restaurants (or grocers) feature them, given the difficulty of shelling them. But, they are very sweet and tasty! Order a dozen or two at Dixie Crossroads and you won't go wrong. They are succulent. The decor is very fish-orientied. Delight in the various mounted fish along the walls, and the fish artwork around the restaurant. Start off with a big helping of confectioner-sugar-dusted warm hush puppies. Try healthy sides such as baked sweet potato (very flavorful, and skip the prepared cinnamon "spread") and mixed fresh vegetables (steamed, so again, skip the margerine spread) and overall, you'll have a very health dinner of seafood (rock shrimp with a touch of lemon & butter, hush puppies, and healthy veggies. Of course, you can also splurge on cole slaw, french fries, baked potato and other comfort foods -- as well as a full menu of seasonal shrimp and many varieties of fish. Very much a local visitor attraction. Very friendly service, and reasonably priced.

When our family is visiting at various places in Central Fla, this is the place we love to meet. Despite it's age, the surroundings as well as the quality are still commendable. The main dining area is very pleasant and the huge booths readily accommodated our group of 11. It's family friendly. Dowels on the table extension piece fit perfectly into the the end of the tabletop and gave us even more room. This was a hit with the woodworkers in the family. The rock shrimp are unique to the area so always a must for most of us. The shrimp gumbo is excellent. Service is quick and attentive. We visited on a Tues so no waiting around Noon or so. Kudos to the family and staff for keeping this great place a welcoming spot. Can't think of anything negative except that a dozen rock shrimp seemed to be an awfully small portion - but it's hard to stop and savor them 'cause they are like little lobsters. Lots of pleasant memories in this place. Go see for yourselves.
