If you are in the area do not miss it. You will need a full day if you want to see the space shuttle, the VAB, the launch sites, the IMAX movies, the early rockets, the Saturn V complex etc. Young kids though would not enjoy certain things. If you have teenagers interested in science you can leave them here. Keep in mind that the various tours cost extra - not cheap. There is a great website that actualy gives you guidelines of what to do depending on your party , the amount of time you have etc.

We spent 2 days at the KSC and could have easily spent 3 days there. If you will be there for more than one day, get the annual pass. It's $55 per adult and includes free parking ($10/day), 20% off food and merchandise and you avoid the ticket lines at the entrance. The Atlantis exhibit is amazing - we saw the Discovery at the National Air and Space Museum in DC last summer, and KSC was much more interesting. We heard Bob Springer talk at the Meet and Astronaut, and the rocket garden was cool as well. I also recommend the Mega Tour where you go to the assembly building and launch pad. We will definitely go again.
We stayed in Cocoa Beach but will stay closer to KSC next time.

When researching our trip to Florida, I couldn't understand why the basic Space Center admission was so expensive.... over $50. Well, it turns out that we spent seven hours there! From the bus tour of the grounds (two hours), IMAX movies, space shuttle Atlantis exhibit, and launch simulator, we learned so much about the space program. The kids especially enjoyed the many video-type simulators spread throughout, and the many movies. We had gotten $125 off of admission for our family of four by attending a "vacation club" presentation, so I really thought we got our money's worth. Highly recommend!

There is a lot to see and experience at KSC. Children and adults have so many things to do together. Its very futuristic and amazing sites to see. You could spend days there with all the movies and different tours they have a free imax film you can watch and its a must see! Angry birds experience was really great for the kids and lots of family fun!
