“No frills Mexican food”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Quite simply the best. To avoid a long line go at about 10...I am not joking. The only other place I dream about is The Shed in Santa Fe. Lunch for two under $13. I have been going for 15 years, ordering the same exact thing and the price is the same. It looks a little scary, but worth the wait.

“6 items on the menu-none can be beat!!!!”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

This is the best Mexican food in town. Yummy! Chico Chorizo please. I've only ever eaten this dish here, because it is their specialty. I've added a beef taco to my meal, but can rarely eat it all it is so filling. They will give you a bowl of stew with a scoop of beans and of rice in the bowl, and two home made tortillas that are being made fresh in the back of the restaurant. Delicious!! There is always a line out the door, and I have never minded waiting. Large common tables to site at give the place a communal atmosphere.

“Great Tacos, Great Prices”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

This place was exactly what I expected of a hole-in-the-wall type of Mexican restaurant - delicious food made the way they've been making it forever at awesome prices. Lunch for two came to a little over $10 (including bottled water which was probably $3 of that).

We went at around 2pm on a Monday and there was absolutely no line, guess we lucked out on that based on other reviews. Will definitely go back!

“This is the real deal”

You must go here but don't do it before getting your blood drawn for your next doctors appointment. Where do you think all that great flavor comes from? Its pork fat baby. Your labs will come back all whacked out and they will put you on cholesterol medicine.

Get the chorizo con huevo, the homemade tortillas, and a taco. You will be set. Don't be put off by the line. It goes fast and is always entertaining anyway.

“"Must" food experience in San Diego”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

Cash only, few items menus, huge line outside type of place. You can see the whole process of making tacos/ tamales from the scratch inside. Tasted pretty good (although I had better - hence only 4 points). Standing in line is an experience by itself. There were aiforce people, cops, local priest. Did not try chorizo with beans. But believe rolled taco was the best dish. One of my friends had burrito - nothing special. Regular tacos and tamales were good.
