“Every bite was delicious, who knew Russian food would be so good?”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We went on a whim because we were feeling adventurous and wanted to try something different. We had the salad sampler which I highly recommend because you get an amazing array of different flavors to try. For our main course, the skewers (cooked over flames outside) and the lamb shank were fantastic. And can I just say Honey Cake?
We felt like we were at a family restaurant in Russia, clearly lots of regulars and a team of waiters who worked very hard to make our experience one to remember.

“Great Food and Fantastic Atmosphere”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Was not sure what to expect, was pleasantly surprised, it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship and the service, staff and ownership were the most gracious people in the business that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The food was great, especially the Vareniki and the Borscht. Being of Polish descent I was greatly appreciative of the Golubtsi, absolutely the best. My recommendation is if you want good food and a great atmosphere do not miss this restaurant.

“The place IS open.”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Went on a lively Saturday night. The place was busy. Food was tasty with no complaints. The staff was very friendly and helpful explaining every aspect of the menu. Being a beer and wine only place I would have thought the wine selection could have been better. It had only a couple of wines to choose from. asked for a bottle of the Chardonnay. They only had "big" bottles?

“Reasonably authentic”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

On a road trip through California, my wife had the urge to eat some Eastern European food. As she is Polish, this seemed as close as we could find in San Diego. The owner and waitress were very welcoming and my wife could practice her Russian. The place had a very nice decor. Our waiteress was very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations on food.

The potato dumplings which were good. The best part of our meal was the chicken and pork kebabs, Tasty, very juicy and well marinated. Overall the food had not been too westernised to meet western tastes.

“A taste of Eastern Europe in California”

An amazing find. From creative decor, fantastic food, brilliant atmosphere and amazing owner Dimitri and his team. Possibly the best meal I have had in San Diego. This is an absolute must for anyone's trip to Americas Finest City!
