The hotel was cleaner than I expected, although the pool was so murky, you could not see all the way to the bottom. I avoided using the pool the entire time I was there, which was four days.
Housekeeping did a good job keeping the rooms neat, although the sheets did not feel entirely clean. My mom got a rash from the sheets, which she only gets when sheets are less than clean. I smelled cologne on one of the pillowcases one night, and since I'm female, I don't wear cologne.
The worst service I experienced at the hotel was at check-in, when a woman (I think her name was Diane) was working the front desk. I walked in and waited while she finished her conversation with a coworker, before she turned to me reluctantly and asked what I needed. I told her I was there to check in, and she interrupted me midsentence to shout a response to the very same person she was joking around with earlier.
She then proceeded to put me in a room with a king bed, when I had requested a room with two double beds when I booked four months ago. Best part was, she neglected to inform me. My parents, cousin, and I went up to the room, walked in, and realized we were given the wrong room type. I went back downstairs, had to wait for her AGAIN, then informed her that I had booked a different room. THEN, she decides to tell me that none were available, but that she would make a note in the computer now and make the changes tomorrow. Shouldn't she have made the notation in the computer when I checked in? And shouldn't common sense and courtesy require her to inform me of the change in rooms and offer an apology for the inconvenience? I didn't get any of that. Instead, I was made to feel that I was inconveniencing her for making her do her job.
The next day, I called to request a room change, and someone else was working the front desk. She was great and made the change immediately and with politeness.
Management should take a closer look at who they choose to staff the front desk. First impressions are lasting, and because of this experience when I first checked in, I probably wouldn't stay here again.
