Normally I have only nice things to say about LaQuinta, especially because of their pet policy. However, this LaQuinta is a total dump with a pretty awful staff. The hallway leading up to our room was filthy- stained carpets, candy wrappers and food on the floor. The room was super tiny, which in cities I know is pretty common. The problem was the room and bathroom were pretty grody. The sink was dirty and I'm not sure the toilet had been cleaned that day. The shower looked soap scummy. The sheets had a funny smell- not a detergent smell either. The biggest problem was the broken air conditioner. It was particularly humid that night and the AC was broken and we needed to keep the window open all night. Needless-to-say, it was very noisy outside. That combined with the heat made sleep impossible. The next morning while checking out the clerk asked if our stay went well. We explained about the broken airconditioner and she actually shrugged her shoulders. When I asked why she bothered to ask me how my stay was, she responded with, "What do you want me to do about it? It's not really my problem". This LaQuinta needs to get its act together. I would not recommend, unless you are desperate to find a room with a pet last minute. If not, move on, this dump is a waste of money.

Room Tip: Even though it is pet friendly, there is absolutely no where to walk your dog- No grass in site. We...

This hotel is a nice basic hotel with free wifi.

The name might suggest to you that you are near the bay! This is not the case!!

Unless you have a car you will be paying for a taxi to go everywhere! Only place to eat within walking distance is McDonalds!

It is $15 in a taxi one way to pacific beach and nearly $40 to near downtown!!!

The staff here are v friendly and can't do enough to help you

The La Quinta has an odd location when you first arrive, but it is actually very easy to get to and a great location in terms of going to lots of areas of San Diego. The rooms are very large and modern, you can tell they have updated the furnishings and design in the last few years. The room had a microwave, coffee making facilities and lots of lighting. They have 2 computers in the lobby with free printing. Free wifi, but it seems to time out if you are on it for a few hours, you have to refresh your connection. The gym is small with outdated equipment, but is rarely used so it doesn't matter that it is small.

The breakfast had a great range, with waffles, biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs or omelet, and sausage or bacon, 4 types of cereal, fruit, muffins and bread. Good coffee too. The staff were just so friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to help us out and make us feel at home. We were going to leave because we needed more nights and their price on the Internet had gone up, but reception was able to give us the same price we had been paying. They were full for the weekend, otherwise we would have stayed!

Nice place to stay. Small pool. Hard to drive to and parking is very limited, although free. No shuttle to any attractions. McDonald's close by. Dominoes pizza free delivery. Staff is very accomodating.

The location of the hotel isn't great we actually missed the road for it the first time and had to loop around. The parking was tight but it was okay. Our room was nice and clean and spacious. My only problem with the room was one corner in the bathroom was sticky. The staff was all very nice and helpful. The breakfast was great. I liked that they have a little store type thing at the lobby where you can buy candy, drinks, even ice cream. The hallways were very hot and stuffy. I ordered pizza and the pizza guy even made a comment saying I hope it's cooler in the room then in this hallway. I ended up getting a cut on my leg while in town and they front desk gave me band aids, so that was great. I checked out the exercise room and laundry area, but there were gnats in and around the area since the door was open to the pool area. The gnats were hanging around the towels in the workout room I think if the door to the pool was closed there wouldn't of been a problem with that. Overall I really liked the room but the hotel itself needs a few improvements.

Place was updated, not top notch but clean. It was a different brand hotel and recently taken over by La Quinta. We have stayed at many La Quintas so we are spoiled since many are brand new buildings. Breakfast was typical. Front desk staff was nice. I would stay again.
