The location of this hotel is right off the maindrags (Garnet and Grand) to get to the beach/boardwalk as well as hopping on I-5 to get to SeaWorld and the downtown San Diego and the airport. No great views and so long as you have a car you can get to the beach in minutes as well as shopping. The rooms were spacious and had the usual full channel selection. They have the usual full breakfast gig which was ok - nothing to write home about, but serviceable. Most of the parking is under the hotel so your car is not in full view. When we left really early in the morning, it appeared that they may have a limited number of spots - not sure if enough to accomodate all the rooms, so you might need to inquire about this at check-in. All-in-all, it's a typical very good La Quinta.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 306 which was towards the one end and facing the back. Probably quieter than most as it was further away from the elevator

If you don't mind driving to your hotspots, this is worth your money and sanity. The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. It is also located right next to the freeway so it wasn't too hard to find nor get to where I needed to go.

Room Tip: Try to get a room right by the parking garage (first floor) for easy access to the pool and jaccuzzi and the laundromat. But you risk getting loud neighbors coming in from partying that night.

After reading a few downer reviews, we still decided to Check. Hard to find, the LaQuinta in Mission Bay is freshly painted in a pleasing yellow. Rooms are freshly renovated, and are spacious and modern. Front desk and staff were very pleasant and helpful. Not in the best part of town, but the area around the hotel is clean and neat. Off street , under the hotel parking is available and we did not feel uneasy about leaving the car there. Well insulated rooms did not let street or freeway noise in. New A/C in all rooms. Easy to San Diego activities. Very good breakfast buffet. A bargain stay in San Diego.

Location is 8 minutes from beach, nice updated rooms, great baths (showers hot with presure). Breakfast was omelet biscuit gravy cereal yogurt orange juice coffee... added value.

It's a good thing I only needed one short night's accommodation. This hotel was until rec recently remodeled so it looks good, but it is lacking some essentials. The air conditioner did not work at all, so it was only bearable by leaving the sliding door slightly open and listening to the freeway traffic all night. Second, the internet connection was totally inadequate....kept losing the signal and finally it was inaccessible for either cellphone or laptop. I will say that the mattress was firm and the towels were adequate....however, for $20 more, I should have stayed down the road at the Holiday Inn Express.
