“Lots of good things!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

Our family stayed at the Bahia for 3 nights at the end of July. Our room was not ready when we attempted to check in early (noonish), but we gave our number to the front desk so they could text us when it was. When we had not received a text by 3:00, we decided to go back and ask again. The room was still not ready, so we waited in the lobby, where they had lemonade and cookies. We were very tired after our flight from MA and really just wanted to settle in. We were disappointed that our room was not ready until 4:15, at which point we were given a $50 gift certificate to use at their restaurant since the hotel does guarantee a 4:00 check-in. Even when we arrived at the room, the housekeeper was still there finishing up. Although we got off to a difficult start, we ended up enjoying our stay.

The property is a bit out-dated, and I thought the exterior needed some refreshing. Our room was large, had 2 queen beds, and was on the east side of the property, overlooking the public beach. There was a public road/parking that separated the hotel from the bay. Knowing this now, I wish we had requested a room on the 2nd floor. It would have been more enjoyable to take in the view from the balcony.

The pool was fantastic! I loved that it ranged from 2.5 feet deep to 10 feet deep! The shallow end was perfect for my non-swimmer, where he could splash around comfortably. My older son loved doing cannon balls in the deep end. The pool at the Bahia was his favorite part of our whole vacation (and we even went to Disneyland!).

The private beach area was very nice and it was cheap to rent a paddle board. It was just a short walk to Mission Beach and Mission Park. The location was perfect! We had such a great time that I was able to look past the problem areas and would definitely recommend this resort.

The tub is rusted and my 6 year old refused to take a bath in it. The AC is old and runs non-stop. Those timer lights are annoying as sometimes you are a bit away from all the sensors and still need some light. The bathroom has no exhaust. The sink is very small and you cant wash your face. The toilet water level is too high and is hard to wipe.
Carpet looked dirty.
The only plus thing is the location if you are with little kids as there are couple of coves next to it and its safer for the little ones to play in those beaches.
TV location of our room is kinda hidden and was very hard to see from the bed.

Our stay at the BAHIA RESORT and evening on the BAHIA BELLE boat was more than I could have hoped for!! IT was PERFECT! I was so happy with every aspect and the staff there were all very helpful and soo friendly!! Sarah who was the cocktail waitress taking care of us on the boat was AMAZING!! She was soo on top of things and took VERY good care of us! She was also super sweet! I loved her and she made us feel right at home! My husband and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and we also did a short vow renewal on the beach right before getting on the boat. Megan Hughes. an event coordinator there, helped make our night extra special, and took care of EVERY detail. I cannot say enough good things about her!! She was so helpful and sweet!!
We had a FABULOUS time and my guests were all very Impressed with the boat and how unique it was. I think they will all be talking about it for a LONG time. It was a very special and magical time!! Also the food at the hotel and the restaurant was great! Very high quality and fresh! I cant THANK everyone at the Bahia Hotel ENOUGH for making all this come together and for making our dream anniversary come true!! Also, the rooms were very nice and clean, and the grounds were very pretty with the duck ponds, meandering streams, lush trees and plants, seal pool and the beach just footsteps away!
The Bahia Belle Boat is one of the best attractions and made it an unforgettable stay! We stayed on the boat all night and danced with family and friends. I loved that it had 3 floors, bottom one where you could relax in the lounge, middle floor that had the bar and dance floor and also plenty of seating around the dance floor, and then the top open deck where you could just relax and watch the sunset or the fireworks over Sea World!!
I would highly recommend the BAHIA resort and accompanying BAHIA BELLE boat ride to EVERYONE I know! It was an AWESOME experience and at a great price! The rooms are very affordable compared to a lot of other hotels in that area. Definitely worth every penny!

Room Tip: I would highly recommend one of the rooms that face the bay. There are also nice rooms further into...

Family vacation with my brother's family....toddlers to pre/ teen. From adults to kids, everyone has something they enjoy.

Location: Superb, in a private section of Mission Bay beach. Very safe. Stayed at one of the room with direct balcony to the beach, it's a taste of what's like to own a beach house. Close enough to walk to nearby Belmont amusement park. Close to sea world.

Room: large with kickenette, sofa + 2 coffee table, one 2 person round table, tv with cable including HBO, free wifi, coffee maker, and a kettle.

Cleanliness: Some of the rooms are dated, but clean. The kitchenette rooms have toaster, oven, range, sink, good size refrig with freezer, pot and pan, cooking utencils.

Service: Lots if activities for a relaxing and fun filled vacation. Tue and thur evening have pool side movie and free popcorn and soft drinks. Excellent service from housekeeping to poolside.

We want to make this an annual family vacation.

It was a very lovely evening spent on the private beach at the Bahia. The buffet dinner was fresh and delicious and started on time. The entertainment was fun, and we really enjoyed how the dancers invited the little kids up to dance with them. So precious!! We are locals and had never been to this resort, we will definitely be back.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we were shown what the rooms look like and I was impressed with the quality of the furnishings. Loved the rooms that are right on the beach and look out over the bay.

A wonderful resort for my family and I visiting San Diego for the first time! The location, pool, staff, hotel events, ocean views, and food were all amazing and met our expectations. We would recommend this resort to anyone with kids or without.

Tips:
The rooms were nice but a bit dated. We had a garden side studio which included a "kitchen" and athough convenient it was also dated. This room was located on the 4th floor and the balcony faced the restaurant and bar. As we were traveling with children we felt that this particular room was a bit "noisy" from the crowd outside enjoying the restaurant and bar which closed late. If you are looking for quiet time we would recommend booking in another location on the grounds of the resort.

There were two weddings on this property during our stay. We were never notified prior to booking or during our stay that these events were to take place. This created more traffic, people and noise on the resort. The banquet room was on the 5th floor right above our room. If we had known of these events, we would have opted for another location on the resort because the wedding party was very loud and could be heard in our room later than we would have liked traveling with children. We did feel that security did a great job keeping the party in check for the other visitors not associated with the wedding. Be sure to ask when you book if a wedding is planned during your stay and you can plan accordingly.

Room Tip: rooms closer to the beach and away from the main lobby may be quieter.

We lucked into this resort due a change in itineries and could not have been happier. We were in town for San Diego Comic Con and it was far enough out to miss the craziness but a short drive to everything. The staff was friendly and the rooms were spacious.
