We recently booked a retirement party on the Bahia Belle - it was such a great way to send off our beloved coworker after 30+ years with our company.
The staff was great, and the food was very tasty. Our company owner even asked for one of the chefs vegan recipes!
We had a beautiful day as far as weather and goes, and the views from the top level were amazing.
This will hopefully be our new standard for retirement parties!

I stayed at the Bahia for two nights for my cousins wedding...It sucked! I reserved my room in Feb. and the wedding was in June...walk-ins got their rooms before me...check in was at 4pm...they gave me a buzzer (like the ones from a restaurant)..It went off around 4:20 pm... Later that day my toilet stopped up. I loved the view...but nothing besides that wowed me...I paid over $400 for two nights and the hotel did not meet my expectations!

We're sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience with us. We are surprised at this posting as we do not give buzzers or any form of paging devices to our guests who are waiting for their rooms. Our system will only notify you by a text message to your personal cell phone as the housekeeper is in their final stages of cleaning. We are upset that you would post something that is completely untrue.

First of all the hotel is situated in a lovely place, right on the bay, and the staff are friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean and we ate at the restaurant which was pleasant enough.
Ok the not so good. We stopped over a weekend in June and were in room 640, which is in the main room block. There was a lot, and I mean a lot of noise from various groups of younger people stopping at the hotel, which included the clashing of doors and very loud shouting outside until very late at night/early morning.
My advise is therefore don't dismiss this hotel as a place to stay but be warned that it does attract younger people at this time of year and especially in the block we were in, do not expect a peaceful sleep.

This was out second time at The Bahia. We picked up our newly graduated US Marine and tired to check in early so he could change into civilian clothes, they said housekeeping was working on the room and it shouldn't take too long so we went to the bar area and had drinks and appetizers and checked again but still not ready so he changed in their lobby restroom and we ran some errands and then checked in a couple hours later. Very shortly after check in, a knock on the door, they delivered a fruit and chocolate tray and a congratulations card from the front desk to my new Marine. Very nice gesture! The room was clean, beds were comfortable and everything was great, we had an issue with the air not working and the maintenance man couldn't figure it out either, I said something at check out and they were testing a new thermostat in a couple rooms, turns out ours was one and since we had trouble they gave us a credit on our room rate. Also stated they probably won't adapt the thermostats since the reviews have not been positive.
Overall, we've stayed twice and love the rooms, customer service, atmosphere is more family oriented, we had other family members staying on the ocean front at other hotels and had issues with late night partygoers and locked bicycles stolen from their porches. The Bahia is our go to place!

It certainly helps this hotel by being situated in such an idyllic location. Beautiful, and a lovely hotel. Looks good, grounds are very well kept, people give good professional service and are approachable. The rooms are big enough, with two good sized and very comfortable beds. Lots of storage space, and a good sized fridge. I had issue with public pathways going right by the window wall to our room though, which meant we kept the curtains closed much of the time. There are tennis courts kept in very good condition (the hotel has equipment and a coach available), and the swimming pool is big enough to get a decent swim. The Jacuzzi, one of the biggest I have experienced, was very, very warm.

The only food we had at the hotel was breakfast. As usual in the U.S, portion size was large and provided a good fuel boost to start the day. Watch out for rogue seagulls. One spent a few minutes appraising whether it could swipe the salmon off one of our plates, chose it's moment and made a successful swoop........so that particular seagull also had a boost to its day!

And the location. Mission Bay. A minutes' walk to a harbourside beach with hotel loungers, we easily secured a double sunbed. I guess most people walked the 15 minutes to the ocean-side beach. The area is great for promenading, sea and harbour sides, with Mission Boulevard for eats, music, entertainment running down the middle. Use the San Diego Old Trolley tour, leaves from right outside the hotel, to get a feel for the city.

Room Tip: If you want a room where passers-by cannot easily see into your room, go for the apartment block, bu...

We just got home from the beautiful Bahia! We stayed 5 nights and our room was amazing! The view was even better! The whole resort is just beautiful and landscaping is just beautiful! We took advantage of everything on site, from the breakfast buffet, the pool, visiting Gracie the seal (which my son LOVED) and playing on the bay! Kaylana W. helped us check in and out and she was so nice and welcoming! Amazing customer service!! We will be back soon and won't stay anywhere else!!

Room Tip: Bay front room is AMAZING!!

Let me just tell you that my husband and I are crazy when it comes to booking places. We look at numerous reviews, pics, and try to get the best deal. We finally chose this place because they were super friendly on the phone and we were given a good deal. We booked for two nights because it was all that was available. Needless to say, it was one of the best decisions we ever made. This place is great! This is coming from a person that is very picky. From start to finish we were treated wonderful. Although check in wasn't until 4:00, Kaylana found us a great room and we were able to check in around 12:00! Kaylana is awesome and gave us great service. We had a bay front room and it was beautiful. However, we wandered the grounds and determined that the garden view rooms and bay view rooms are lovely as well. There is so much attention to detail. The grounds are stunning. At check in, we asked about staying a third night and were given a great deal that we quickly accepted. They are by far one of the best resorts in San Diego; if not the best; due to the awesome service and location. The beach, Belmont park, and many eateries are within walking distance. Old Town, Balboa Park, The Zoo, Sea World, Gas Lamp, are all located within 15 minutes of the resort. The resort is clean and well maintained. Additionally, an awesome bonus is the free passage on the Bahia Belle. It is a beautiful little ship where we enjoyed beautiful views and karaoke. We ate at the restaurant once and they have great food; albeit a tad overpriced. That being said, we will definitely stay here again, since everything else on the resort can't be beat! Tip: if possible, choose the bay front room. Being able to walk right out onto the bay and lounge underneath one of their loungers is worth it!
