Another year and we are back at The Bahia Resort. Some pleasant changes, the restaurant seems to have improved greatly, offering live chef action with their nightly buffets. There is upgraded rentals on property for adventuress guests, including Segeways, Paddle Boards and a new selection of bikes. We bring our own, but the rental guys were kind enough to fix ours for us. The pool is still a treat, with movie nights, an excellent bar and live music during the day. The resort also continues to offer excellent activities for kids during the day. I have to throw a shout out to bartender "Marion" at the hotel bar, he makes one of the best Bloody Mary's I have ever enjoyed.

Super nice staff, awesome rooms, old school flavor, giant paddle boats, private beach, new spa at the sister property at the Catamaran (my wife went and was ecstatic at the service and massage) the list goes on. I cannot explain how well this place goes with rest and relaxation, but it is my top pick once again for 2013.

Go and relax!!!!

Room Tip: Best rooms are still the suites across from the Marina, in my opinion.

I am a San Diego resident, lived here for 10 years and some how I just now started frequenting the Bahia. The only thing I am bummed about is that it took me 10 years to discover it! The location is killer! White sand beaches bayside with great ambience and atmosphere. We had the pleasure of experiencing the Brazilian Carnival on Thursday night. We enjoyed a HUGE feast...and this was not your normal buffet experience. The food was delicious, well-prepared and presented....and did I mention it was outside on the sand?! The staff was incredible, super friendly, and attentive. There was an exceptional Chef, Chef Doug, carving Brazilian style meat, who made us laugh and made us feel very welcome. Executive Chef Rob was out checking on guests as well. Very cool guy. In addition to all I mention above they also offered a fun Brazilian Carnival type show complete with Samba music and dancers. They even brought out exotic animals for the kids to enjoy. The scenary and sunset were amazing. I definitely want to go back. Jump on the Bahia Belle for a cruise around the bay at sunset. You won't be disappointed.

We have been staying at the Bahia now for our once a year San Diego vacation for over 10 years now. The Bahia Resort is right on Mission Bay. It is close to all the activities for the Boardwalk & Water Sports. It is on the "Bay" side of the ocean which we like for the quietness, but it is not a very far walk to the "Ocean" side. It has a very nice restaurant & bar. There is a large pool & jacuzzi. You also get to have a ride on the Bahia Belle & watch the Fireworks from Sea World at night. Mike Cannon at the Front Desk is AWESOME! He has been there as long as we have been going & always tries to accommodate us as best as possible. It's so nice to see his smiling face year after year. It would be great it every place could have a Mike "C" greet you every day of your stay.

Room Tip: The "bungalows" are separate/ individual & face the water where you just walk out your...

We enjoyed two nights in a room right on the beach at Bahia. The resort is well situated in Mission Bay with views in several directions depending on where you are located. The rooms are a little bit tired and could use some updating, certainly when you consider what you are paying. Still, the rates are comparable to others in the area and there was no parking or resort fee as other properties impose. The restaurant was decent, and the pool with two rescued seals was a fun addtion. We also were pleased and surprised by the ride on the large paddleboat Bahia runs across the Bay. We were given free passes as resort guests and enjoyed the hour long cruise just after sunset.

This was the BEST of the 18 annual conferences I have coordinated throughout Southern California! There is no way to thank Zach Anderson, the Sales Manager, enough for ALL he did to make our conference at the Bahia possible!

Monique Sullivan, the Convention Services Manager, was INCREDIBLE to work with! Our conferences hold many challenges with last minute additions and changes and Monique was always ready to assist in any way she possible could. She had great suggestions that made our conference even better then we could have imagined.

The Bahia meeting rooms were PERFECT for all our conference needs. The Mission Bay Ballroom was a beautiful setting for our meals and general session. The Shell room was also a great meeting room. We held four breakout sessions on the William D. Evans and Bahia Belle Sternwheelers which the attendees loved! The highlight of the weekend was the candlelight dinner cruise Saturday evening on the William D. Evans. All the meals were EXCELLENT and the staff was very attentive to those with special needs. They provided service and quality that were amazing! The sleeping room accommodations were also excellent and we only received positive comments throughout the entire weekend.

We had 144 attendees and it is our greatest desire for them to be treated special. From the moment they checked into the front desk Friday until they checked out Sunday your ENTIRE hotel team provided that service! Thank you Bahia for making our conference such a memorable positive experience!!!

We spent three wonderful July nights in a huge bay view studio with a tiny kitchen. Being on the third floor we were able to keep our window open the entire time we were there, savoring the fresh ocean breezes.
The location has so much to offer! We rented a tandem bike for a ride around the bay, walked to the ocean beach for boogie boarding, and each day rented a boat and sailed in Mission Bay. We walked to town for most meals - we enjoyed breakfast burritos at Mrs. Roriberto's for lunch, and pizza at Luigi's for supper. Watching the surfers on the FlowBarrel at Belmont Park was thrilling.
Our favorite activity was sailing. At $25 an hour for a 14' Capri it was very reasonably priced. Each day was different, the first day not too windy which gave us the chance to refresh our sailing skills. The second day was windy and gusty and exciting. That day we saw many capsized Hobie Cats and a couple of guys on Moth hydrofoil sailboats - they could really move! The last day had a nice steady wind and we had a great time sailing back and forth, dodging the sailing classes.
I also loved early morning barefoot walks at low tide when the beach was nearly empty of people, but more populated with shy birds like godwits and egrets.

Room Tip: Bay view is great. The studios are enormous, the kitchen tiny but efficient. An upper floor allows...

We stayed at the Bahia for 4 nights with our 2 teens. Our family has stayed at the Bahia several times. I will say we enjoyed it the most this time as we utilized the resort and many of it's wonderful features. We walked to & from Mission Beach & Belmont Park with ease each day. We used the private beach with cabanas when we were too sunburned to go much further (ha). The pool was sparkling clean. Also we enjoyed the free arcade. The recovering sea lions on property were so engaging. When we arrived we were taken to a 2nd story bay view room. While beautiful & recently remodeled this room was VERY warm & after an hour or 2 did not cool down. We asked to be moved & without hesitation we were moved to a single level bayside room. Also remodeled & much cooler. Thank you Bahia! The newly remodeled rooms are beautiful. Both rooms were very clean. I would comment however that there is only 1 mirror so for a family of 4 (3 are female) we really could have used a 2nd mirror. If you want your room cleaned earlier in the day as we did simply make sure to ask at the front desk & they will make it happen! We were so busy we didn't get a chance to ride the Bahia Belle (free for guests), which I love to do, or to rent any of the water sport items (tons of fun things to rent). Next time for sure!! We also enjoyed our little duck family that visited us each morning! Had a really great time!

Room Tip: When staying in 1 of the bayview rooms (not towers) try to stay in a lower level or 1 of the singles...
