Just back from California coast trip where Bahia was last stop and a great base to explore from. On Bay block, but facing the 'dark side', so requested a change to the 'sunny side', which was accommodated. Can agree that the rooms may require to be updated - or at least paint the rooms a lighter colour to give a more airy feel. Still, the bedding was very clean, bed very comfortable, great to have a fridge. We had a lovely steak dinner in the restaurant one evening, and Crystal, our server, was very courteous and helpful. The pool was great and the garden areas very calming to walk through. We didn't have our rented car for last three days, and bus / trolley services are easy to access from hotel, and it was fun hopping from one to the other, exploring San Diego old town, gaslamp quarter and Seaport on a $5 day pass. The star of the Bahia for us was Desmond, who helped us with directions, our bags, general information on San Diego and is a real asset to this Hotel. His cheery smile and helpful approachable manner made it a pleasure to come into Reception. Renting bicycles is a great way to see around the bay area, as it's flat, cyclist friendly and there's some magnificent scenery.

Room Tip: Room facing the bay was lighter and made room appear bigger and brighter.

Check-in was fine. Biggest issue was that we had requested two rooms side by side so we could be close to my elderly mother-in-law, but they put us at opposite ends of a long corridor. Room was beyond what we expected. We were in town for my son's wedding and so we didn't get to take advantage of the room amenities- full kitchen. Would be nice for a longer stay with a more open agenda. Wedding reception was at the Bahia, which is why we picked it.

We last stayed here in 2000,we thought the location was good so we gave it another go.

This time we booked a Bay front room it had good view. I feel some of these rooms need some updateing.
The bed was very comfortable and provied extra pilows as requested. The room appeared to be very clean, but after walking on the carpet in stocking feet the soles of my socks were black. So the carpet had been cleaned with a vacum it was in need of a good deep clean. The bathroom needs updateing as the grab rail on the bath tub was useless as it came away in my hand.
The taps were all calcified which made the look dirty.
We had a fridge in our room which was great for all our milk and drinks.
The patio doors which opened out to the bay which are aluminiumed framed are badly oxidised makeing them feel and look dirty. The patio doors could do with better security locks. Also the curtains at the windows were dirty and needed cleaning.
The air conitioning unit was very nosiy and not very effective. You could also hear the other air conditoning units around you from other rooms making it hard to sleep at times.
Since our pervious vist the qulity of food as greatly improved but the choice limited at evening meals. We did not eat lunch there. The breakfast buffet is not the greatest but sugest a la carte the food was much better. But saying all that it was still good value for the money booked 3nights got the 4th free.

Room Tip: A/C units very noisy in bay front rooms do not know about other rooms.

I've never been to San Diego but now that I've been I want to go back! The Bahia Resort was a fantastic place to stay as it was close to many attractions, the room rate was great and the facility was perfect for what we needed It's an older hotel however we had no complaints at all. The room was quite large, 2 double beds and a nice kitchen (this was a surprise) and decent bathroom. We would definitely stay there again the next time we go.

Room Tip: Ask to stay on second floor or higher and overlooking the bay. This way you can open the doors and...

Because we had to 'escape' from another Hotel which was terrible, we found a little Paradise at Bahia Resort. Families are heartly welcome and we enjoyed the time there. We loved our Garden room. Very clean rooms, very comfortable beds. Breakfast Buffet was just yummi :-)

Seems to be an older property in Mission Bay, but very well maintained. They allowed us to check in early by about 5 hours, which gave us a jump start on our stay.
The room was small (King room with bay view), but recently updated. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The room also came with a refrigerator, which made it possible to save some money by not going out to eat every morning for breakfast. The sliding glass door opened to the patio overlooking the bay. Each morning we enjoyed our coffee out on the patio and each evening enjoyed our cocktails watching the sun set.
One day the housekeeping staff failed to replenish our coffee, so we had to go out for coffee that morning. But other than that, they did a great job keeping our room nice and clean.
The grounds were well kept, and made for an enjoyable walk. The staff was friendly and the breakfast in the Cafe was delicious. All in all, a very nice place to stay and enjoy San Diego.

Excellent location and amenities. Perfect for a couples getaway within close proximity to all San Diego has to offer. Just a short jaunt to Mission Bay beach and a perfect place to watch the sunset each evening. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I recommend the bay front suites. The beach is very private and a good place to curl up with a good book. My husband and I have visited this property now three times and will return next year.
