We stayed 5 nights at Christmastime and were made to feel like family.
From helping us bake cookies to checking to see if all was well.
The rooms were spotless and the facilites great.
You had the feeling they really cared.

The accommodation was just average. Nothing to rave about or to write home to. Basically a place to sleep and rest. The room we were in (314) was facing the road, so very noisy first thing in the morning with garbage trucks and work vehicles. The noise level at night was ok. We were out all day so cannot comment what the noise level is during the day. Try to get a room facing away from the road and on a high floor to avoid the noise in the morning. Room size was acceptable. But the bathroom felt a bit small.
Buffet breakfast was acceptable. Nothing special.
Staff members at the hotel were pleasant enough. Valet parking was convenient. Would try to stay somewhere else when we return to San Diego.

I've stayed here twice for a conference and the place is wonderful. First, the free airport shuttle is convenient. You have a spacious room with a full kitchen. The hotel is very quiet and the happy hours are like a family homecoming. The free breakfast could not be better, you get your pick of newspapers in the morning, and the pool is fine enough for swimming laps. The hotel staff is consistently helpful and friendly. The workout room is the only shortcoming and it could use some expansion. Otherwise, this is a great place to get away from the large convention type hotels.

I depend heavily on Trip Advisor to guide what do on each vacation & wanted to contribute my highest compliments to this hotel for anyone looking for a good choice in San Diego!

First off, Jonathan, as other people have mentioned, is great. Didn't get to meet him in person but by phone when we had to ask about potential travel changes, he was super helpful and gave us his direct line for any questions even though he's really not the reservation staff.

The staff is amazing. They let us check in early because the room was ready and answered my many many questions about the area, gave us directions and maps. They all act like concierges. :-) (I wish I could remember all of their names but those who worked the weekend 12/8 and 12/9 both morning and evening were great!)

The complimentary shuttle service was the best. It's so hard and expensive to find parking in San Diego, that being able to be dropped off and picked up for free far outweighs the cost of $14 a night parking at the hotel. Speaking of parking... it's the easiest parking system. No cumbersome garage to deal with... just a pass put in your window to come and go as you please for one rate. (We used it Sat morning through Sunday evening for the one rate $14. So we could sight-see without paying an extra day. Meaning you don't have to leave after you check out if you're still exploring the area on the last day of your trip.)

Our shuttle driver both times we used it, Theodore, was delightful. He dropped us off in Little Italy with restaurant suggestions on the way back from December Nights in Balboa Park (which would have been a nightmare to try to drive to ourselves!) And the official Dec. Nights shuttle service had the longest line ever! We were so glad we didn't have to depend on that! He was so patient to drive so many of the hotel guests back and forth all night long.

Re: Location. It's so well situated. You can walk to the trolley / subway stop, the water front, Seaport, USS Midway. Trolley takes you places like Old Town and Gaslamp. Nice variety.

We happened to go the weekend of the Christmas boat parade and just basically walked across the street and a block toward the Seaport direction and got a front row seat. We were about a 10 minute drive from Coronado, but walking distance from the Broadway pier if you'd rather take the ferry over.

We are going back to stay there again shortly and would recommend to anyone!

Stayed 4 nights in the Residence Inn around Halloween to visit San Diego before returning home to Europe. The hotel was a great base for us to visit downtown, Sea World and explore the area. We had a room with kitchen on the ground floor facing the pool. The room itself was great, more than big enough for 3, but was a bit smelly. Our daughter didnt sleep so well on the soafbed, but still it was ok. Facing the pool on ground floor did not turn out as great as we had hoped, as people are sitting in front of the window until late night, so you have to close windows and curtains. There is a railway track just behind the hotel, which is quite noisy, but fortunately this stops during night time. If you like to sleep a bit longer, just make sure that the cleaning ladies make up your room, as they seem not to come back after a first try. Staff are very helpful and friendly, and breakfast is clearly above average of what you usually can expect in that type of hotels. Parking unfortunately is not for free, but very conveniently located and always available. As the distance to the airport is so short, you would be there in just a few minutes.

We stayed for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The GM, Jonathon is a credit to his hotel and the Marriott chain - nothing was too hard. His staff are top notch and are to be commended. The suites are a good size, although our bedroom was a little smaller than some of the other hotels we've stayed at. Our room was a bit hot, but that's my fault for not reporting the A/C at the time. The room was spotless and included a decent kitchen area, sofa etc. The hotel offers a free local area shuttle which will get you to the zoo, downtown (Gaslamp) and old town which really saved our already sore feet!
My only complaints are based on comparison with other hotels that we'd just stayed at; The breakfast selection wasn't huge, adequate but not as expansive as some of the others we'd experienced. The manager's function which we joined one night only happens a few times a week and is very basic, but at least they have one! - again just not like say an Embassy function.
I have no problems recommending this hotel, its location, cleanliness, brilliant staff, free shuttle, free breakfast and oh a great pool make it a great choice for anyone looking for somewhere to stay in San Diego.

Room Tip: Suite facing in ward to the pool, 3 rd floor away from the back of the hotel - there's train the...

Located a few minutes from the airport but close enough to Little Italy and downtown San Diego, this clean and efficient hotel represents great value whether on business or pleasure. I really had no complaints: great staff, friendly service, free breakfast and clean and spacious rooms make it an ideal SD hotel.

Room Tip: Need to get the 2BR suites for the most privacy and space.
