Description: Jsix is a neighborhood restaurant and bar located in San Diego's East Village. Here, one can celebrate the simple things in life: a hard day's work and a good meal served alongside warm hospitality. Food that pays respect to culinary ingenuity but is stripped of unnecessary complexities is served alongside cocktails that exemplify the tradition and history of the craft. Those looking for a rooftop bar can head up to Upper East for some savory seasonal bites and craft cocktails poolside. Welcome to Jsix, where one is always a friend, never a stranger.

“Great for lunch”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

Nice selection of beers. Food is fresh and eclectic a nice feature is that you can get large or small size portions. Good location near Petco Field and in the Gaslamp district.

“Maybe better for drinks”
Reviewed March 14, 2014 via mobile

Had to ask for rooftop dining. Server very friendly and attentive. The menu was limited and the portions were small. Seemed more bar like than a luncheon destination.

“Not your typical hotel restaurant!”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

While staying at the Solamar Hotel we had numerous meals (2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner) and a night of cocktails and apps. Overall the selection of foods was fresh, high quality ingredients served with a robust emphasis on appearance and flavor. We were extremely impressed with the attention to detail. The waitstaff was quick to serve and had a very upbeat and down to earth style. I really enjoyed this restaurant and given the number of meals we ate I can tell you the quality was consistent. Highly recommend to all whether you are staying at the solamar hotel or just in gaslamp quarter.

“Open house for their remodel”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

They hosted an open house lastnight to tout their remodel. The place is really cool. They greeted us with champagne. But then it fell flat. The food they had out for their "open house" was cauliflower, picked sticks and tomatillos, and some fatty meats. No carbs to absorb the yummy beer and whiskey being served. The band was good but I was more concerned about soaking up all that alcohol they were serving than the band they hired for the night. Plus, as an open house, they should highlight some of their menu items... I hope their menu does not include cauliflower and pickled sticks.

Kate- I'm sorry you didn't find enough food at our open house. As it was pretty packed with people, our effort was to provide light bites that were easier to walk around with than our small-plate menu ( involves lots of broths/sauces/dressing and thus not very party-friendly). As you enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks I do hope you will come by and give the menu a shot!

“Attentive service, fresh, organic fair”
Reviewed February 21, 2014 via mobile

Dined here twice while staying at the Solamar, and the wait service was fast and kind. Ingredients were fresh and innovative, and the atmosphere was relaxed, with a nice view of the street and lots of light. Prices were very reasonable, less than $12 for most items.
