“Good Hotel, Great Value !”
Reviewed March 7, 2010

We visited friends in Palm Desert after a cruise and needed a place to stay before catching our flight home the next day. Chose this hotel because it was near, but not adjacent to the airport. Pricelined it for a friday night for only $44. The front desk graciously checked us in @ 11:30AM (way ahead of the 3PM check-in). I wanted to avoid checking in with a Priceline voucher @ 10:30PM after coming back from the desert. The lobby area and lounge were very attractive and the breakfast dining room was larger and nicer than I expected. The single-king room was large and very clean. Breakfast in the morning was hot, very ample, and free. There was a Chili's next door as well as on site dining. This hotel doesn't seem to be near any particular tourist attraction, but if you have a car that wouldn't be a show stopper. We will definitely look for Country Inns for our future travel.

Stayed here two nights in January. This hotel was very clean overall and the service was good. The furniture and decor in the rooms were somewhat dated. Complimentary breakfast was on par with that of a Hilton Garden Inn, except that it was free! Would recommend and stay here again.

Stayed here after a day of driving and relaxing at the beach, visited San Diego downtown in the evening. The location is rather good - 2 minutes from the interstate and therefore comparably quick to SD as well as the beach. Obviously, the hotel not being either directly at the beach or in SD downtown contributes to the reasonable rate (we paid $65).
Finding the hotel is easy, it is surrounded by other hotels, at least one chain restaurant and business centers. Parking s easy, check in might have been the speediest ever.
The rooms are of a very good size, nicely appointed and clean. The same goes for the bathroom, which left a very good impression. There was an AC unit outside our window which came to life every once in a while and rustled for a few minutes, but otherwise it was very quiet. The free WiFi worked great.
We had a very good night's sleep and woke up to a great breakfast, including several hot dishes and do-it-yourself waffles. Check out was as quick as check in.

We had forgotten a laptop charger at the hotel and I called them to days after - I was not actually expecting much of a chance since often hotels are not overly interested in helping in these matters and was very surprised by the positive reactions of the staff - they called me back as promised, found the charger and shipped it. Very nice and unexpected - a big thumbs up!

Positive:
- Room (esp. bathroom) I would not have expected - they simply lacked the 'cheapishness' often found in non-luxury chain hotels. We felt very comfortable and had none of the "better not touch that" feelings one often encounters.
- Breakfast - this was an actual breakfast and a good start in the day.
- Staff and Service: Every encounter was very friendly and helpful.
- Free parking, Wireless and breakfast.

Negative:
- Cannot find anything negative that would be worth pointing out - obviously it is not a 5 star property, but a very nice and clean 3 star hotel.

Recommendation: This is the best hotel of its class/price range I have seen in a while. I would absolutely recommend it.

We stayed for one night and got a $65 rate through priceline. Given the cost of san diego area hotels, this is a great deal. The hotel is very nice and we got a quiet room at the end of the hall. Free internet and free breakfast, cann't beat the value. Front desk very courtesy even though we are using priceline. e.g., they didn't give us the worst room in the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for value and don't mind the longer drive to san diego downtown.

A fine hotel with one exception. This hotel, bar none, has the worst mattresses since the invention of the mattress. Truly where all other mattresses go to die when they are done.

No other complaints. I won't comment on the large man doing his impression of a vacuum cleaner at the front desk eating the last SEVEN cookies while the front desk staff looked on in awe.

We stayed here for one night the night before our cruise. It was great! The best part was the free breakfast downstairs in the morning. I will definitely go there again. I paid $60 for the room on priceline. I will definitely go there again!

We arrived at this hotel when our receptionist at the Residence Inn at La Jolla Dr. did not honor our reservation when he claimed that our reservation had been made using the Marriott chain, and Marriott was 'not a sister hotel'. We had checked out of a Vegas hotel of the same chain and did a phone check-in during the day at La Jolla, expecting the keys at 4.00am! We craftily asked the rude guy at The Residence Inn whether we could check 'something on the computer', and we quickly booked our room at the Country Inn. We drove to the Country Inn, and a world of difference unravelled before our eyes! Ryan, the front desk staff was sympathetic to our plight, and promised to have a cleaning staff to prepare the first available room (it had been sold out) once the first guest checked out. 5 minutes later, a room had been found after a guest checked out early, and in we went. I have been to many hotels, and I try to leave positive reviews where I can; the staff at Country Inn and Suites were excellent! They went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and had a room to sleep, despite our last-minute booking! The room was nice, the breakfast had a lot of variety. It was very family oriented, lots of small kids around at breakfast, a good thing if families (the pettiest of them all) can make bookings here! It was fully booked, meaning that they were doing something right. It had internet in the rooms, and a free computer downstairs. It had a wonderful lobby, a pool, etc. You probably need a car, as it is 15-20 minutes away from downtown ( I saw a shuttle service van, so please ask), but it is about 3-4 minutes from the I-805 freeway. The lady at the reception Sunday night allowed me to make a phone call when she realized that my cell-phone was out of charge, which I considered out of the ordinary! I could go on and on, but my International Rugby Sevens experience became so much nicer after the fantabulous service from Ryan and Co!
