I was a bit surprised to find a very small, yet clean and modern, room upon arrival given what was paid for a standard week day stay on business. You're not a far walk from the beach or Gaslamp district and the concierge is fairly helpful with directions. I didn't find anything about the hotel remarkable, one way or the other. The noise from the street can be bad if you're on a lower level, but otherwise a decent night's sleep.

We enjoyed our stay at the US Grant in July. The hotel is beautiful. If you like old fashioned, grand type hotel, you will enjoy its architecture and the interior. It is not too stuffy and the room was beautifully decorated with original art as the headboard of the two full sized beds in our room. The bathroom was huge, with the biggest jacuzzi tub I'd ever been in!
We also enjoyed the Grant Grill Restaurant. The breakfast was tasty and the dinner there was excellent. For being a member of the hotel rewards club, we got credits to be used for breakfast each morning. The credit for two were generous enough for the three of us. The wait staff and the hostess were very friendly and remembered our name even though we stayed there for only two nights. At dinner, the restaurant staff accommodated for our 12 years old girl who enjoys many types of cuisine, but did not see anything on the menu that she would enjoy eating. I would recommend this hotel for anyone making a special trip to San Diego.

Restaurant was amazing and the entertainment was truly sublime ...as you can tell we loved it ...good choice by my mate Colin ...they really looked after us ..bang on the corner of the gaslight district but as peaceful as you could wish ..and did I mention the rooms fantastic ..especially as Rhona managed to get us all corner rooms as we were on a silver wedding tour ...well done all
