“STAY AWAY! THIS PLACE IS HAUNTED!!!!!”
Reviewed October 11, 2009

Back in 2005, I stayed here for a conference. As others have mentioned, the wait in line for check-in is interminable; there were about 15 people in front of me, and only two women at the desk. No apologies for the wait, by the way. Well, I checked in to Room 1331, way in the back of the complex. Believe me, the last thing on my mind was possibly encountering paranormal activity. I had just entered my motel room, and began to feel very anxious, and didn’t know why. I was very tired, and just wanted to get a good night’s sleep. Well, unfortunately, I started to feel more uncomfortable in that room by the minute. I had a very restless night. The next morning the “presence” was still there in the room and I was left with the feeling that someone had either been murdered there or committed suicide. I was told sometime later that perhaps the property sits on Indian burial ground. The motel has refused to answer my emails. Does anyone happen to know anything about the history of this motel, or the land it sits on? I’d REALLY appreciate it. [--] is my email if you know something! Thanks!

Roses were beautiful and the grounds were quaint and sweet. Inside of the rooms - the blue shag carpet was gross.. There was no gym.. had to pay extra to use Gym in parking lot and that did not include use of the gym showers..????

The overall experience was okay, but the rooms would have to be updated before I'd swear to a return. The hotel sits really close to the freeway so earplugs are a necessity if you're a light sleeper, and the room I stayed in had very little to no soundproofing. Additionally, I could hear the hotel staff in the middle of the night rolling their carts along the outside corridor (again...ear plugs are a necessity). Grounds are very pretty with tons of roses in bloom. In general, the meals were disappointingly below average and extremely expensive (though service was very good). Blue carpeting and brass fixtures along with a polyester comforter made my room look very outdated in comparison to the sleek, simple, modern hotel rooms I usually find as a business traveler. The up/down buttons on my remote didn't work and the bed wasn't all that comfy. Concierge and Bell staff were extremely helpful and maid service was great (except that they kept putting that icky comforter back on the bed every day). And while I could print my boarding pass at the business center, web access requires additional payment (a rather antiquated conccept for the year 2009). I definitely wouldn't return.

Stayed at the Town and Country for business (convention was held there) in October. In general, the hotel was average. My room was very dated (can you say flashback to the 80’s?). There was floral wallpaper throughout and the carpet was stained. I will say it was pretty clean despite the wild floral bedspread and slight odor. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The landscaping was beautiful (looks like that is where they spent their money). We ate at the café there but the breakfast was good but overpriced. Parking was $14 daily. The convention center was very nice but dated as well. I think the hotel was average. You would probably find a better place to stay across the street at the Marriott.

I stayed at the Town and Country in San Diego for two nights to do planning for a conference we're directing between Christmas and New Year's for 400-500 international students. I am very impressed with the facility. We received excellent help and service from Tom Bisesi, Tina Rees, Rhianna Cultrona, Patty Muklevicz and more. We're really looking forward to coming back.

Stayed at the Town and Country while visiting friends. Overall staff was friendly and I was impressed several had worked at the hotel for 10+ years. Room was slightly dated but very clean and comfortable. Beautiful landscaping thoughout. Loved having a mall and trolley station right behind the hotel. Concierge was very helpful with trolley information and times to the downtown gaslamp area.
