Has an old school French theme to the place, very classy and elegant, but fees can be steep. Different vibe than other hotels, more of a mature crowd. Valet parking is expensive @ $32 per night, and there's also a nightly fee for about $17 for 4 bottles of water and a few pieces of chocolate. Also missing a swimming pool and hot tub, which in unacceptable for a 4 star hotel in the Gaslamp.

I booked the hotel through priceline for $70 per night. Not bad for a 4-star hotel. The location is excellent - it is right in downtown and is easy to get around to anywhere. However, there are cost one should notice: they charge $15 service fee for three bottles of water and some coffee, and $32 for valet parking (only option). Considering the parking rate around downtown is all above $30, the parking is okay but the service fee made me feel rip off like when I was in Las Vegas. Other than that, the room is huge and stylish, the service is also excellent.

The hotel is in a good location, however it is somewhat difficult to get to due to proximity to the San Diego trolley. The valet parking is expensive, $32 a night if I remember correctly, and I was not sure if there is any available self-parking. Access to the hotel from valet parking, whether in front or in the parking garage, is quite easy.

Check in was simple and I was quite surprised to be handed an actual key to the room! Well, this isn't a traditional key. It is an electronic key in the shape of a traditional one. Very interesting and unique. The decor is very impressive & fancy. The lobby, elevators, and hallways are well kept.

The rooms are also very unique, with one "master" door for two different rooms (perhaps to enable adjoining rooms?) leading to a small ante-chamber. The room was very comfortable and spacious. It was also well cleaned. The bathroom was up-to-date and roomy. The room had modern amenities such as an iPod dock and flat screen TV. There was however a noticeable level of noise coming from both the hallway/antechamber and street. My room was directly above the trolley tracks outside so that did cause some noise, but it was not bothersome. People coming and going from the adjacent room do cause a noticeable & potentially bothersome amount of noise. The hallway noise is limited.

Room service was quick, friendly, and responsive, and the prices were not totally unreasonable. There was an additional "service charge" applied each ($20 I believe). With parking, room service, taxes, and fees I spent an additional $150 at check-out for a two night stay.

All in all this was an enjoyable trip to a beautiful hotel with very friendly staff. It is not cheap, but it affords a higher the level of service and comfort. I was not disappointed and would return.

Stayed here for the first time since our honeymoon, 20 years ago. it was every bit as luxurious as I remembered it. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive. The room was large and nicely appointed with upscale furniture. Location was close to restaurants and adjacent to the light rail going all the way to the Mexican border. Horton Plaza is right across the street. The Sunday brunch here is legendary with good reason.

This is a lovely hotel in a nice part of San Diego. The sleeping rooms were spacious with nice amenities. The meeting rooms, however, were freezing even though the hotel had brought in space heaters. I realize that San Diego doesn't get many consecutive days of cold weather, but it was really incredible that they couldn't seem to get the temperatures above 60 degrees in those rooms. The hotel bar which is pretty small had a trio playing on Saturday night and the music overpowered the room. The breakfasts, lunches, and cocktail food we had during our meetings were very good and the servers were attentive and helpful. The nearby rail line runs all night (or maybe it just seemed that way) and does make quite a bit of noise and it woke me several times even though I was on the 15th floor.

We stayed here for 4 nights in early January. The location is excellent--right by the Gaslamp district with a huge choice of restaurants, and within walking distance of the harbor. It is also easily accessible from the airport by public transportation. The hotel has an impressive lobby in the style of European grand hotels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Perhaps most important, our room was comfortable and very spacious.

It is not inexpensive, but for a splurge, definitely worth the price.

Stayed for a conference for a few days, rooms are large and a good view. Location is pretty nice as well, close to gaslight and 10 minute walk to the water. Staff was friendly enough and hotel was a nice place for a couple day business trip.
