Got moved from room to room due to a leak but staff was courteous, ask for an inner room the people on the streets are not courteous and extremely noisy. No parking but there are ways to adapt to that. Trolley is close.

Room Tip: Don't get an outer room too noisy,

We very much appreciate your taking time to write a review and for staying with us. We sincerely apologize for the need to change your guestroom. Parking can be tough, but we do offer valet parking for $25/day, including unlimited in and out privileges. Fortunately, the trolley stop is at our street corner. We had a lovely stay here after a trip across the desert from Las Vegas. The room was comfortable and fitted in with the period of the property .we laughed at the fires in the room but the laugh was on us as it turned chilly at night.breakfast in the cheese room was great so no need to move far. The gas lamp district was great and we were close to everything .

Very interesting hotel, parking is difficult or you can pay $25 per night for valet. The rates are great for the location (in Gaslamp) during the week. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and clearly work well together. The restaurant in the hotel, where we had breakfast was fantastic and very affordable. The view from the upper floors offers great views of the city from balconies. Some may not enjoy the noise from the night clubs nearby, but that is pretty mitigated. The beds were comfortable, and I'm sure many will enjoy the classical amenities. The overhead flushing toilet complete with chain, the interesting items displayed in rooms between floors you view while riding the elevator, and so on. So, a great option if you're looking for something during the week. No pool or gym, but hey, you're not far from the beach at all, so dive in!

We stayed at the Horton Grand Hotel for a week while attending a seminar at the conference center. The location was excellent. It was a quick walk to the conference center. The hotel is also close to many restaurants and shops, and a short taxi ride to many attractions. We visited the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park Museums while we were there.
The Horton Grand Hotel was a very nice choice. It has charm with a beautiful lobby and courtyard. Our room was spacious with a balcony and a view of the city. The hospitality was warm and welcoming. Paula, Ken and Greg offered us great recommendations on where to eat and gave great directions. We thank them for their time and kindness. We would definitely
recommend the Horton Grand Hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the third or fourth floor facing the courtyard. You can still see the city lights f...

I recently reserved the courtyard and regency rooms for my daughters 15 year old birthday (Quencineta). This is a very special day for a little girl turning of age to become a young woman and we were able to hold this event at the Horton Gran Hotel. The Director of Sales Justin Stuart was a tremendous help in planning all the details and ensuring all my needs were meet to ensure a fabulous party. Justin helped answer numerous questions and was able to provide sound guidance for this event that made it easier to plan. I would like to mention other key staff at the Hotel who made my daughter event go off without a hitch because of all their efforts;
Gene Baldyga
Joanna Kay
Shannon Rico
Derek Johnston
Alex the Bar Manager
The bartenders for the event.
The Hotel staff was always willing to pitch in and provided excellent customer service in all aspects of the event. I could not be happier with utilizing this Hotel for such a defining moment in my daughter’s life and will cherish this experience for the rest of my life.
We also reserved some rooms that over looked the courtyard and they were very nice my family enjoyed there stay.

Room Tip: any room facing the courtyard

This is a nice hotel with clean, quite rooms. We stayed there for a night. Location is excellent. It is in Gaslamp quarter and next to number 1 club in SD, Fluxx. Room was not big but was clean and had some historic looks. Overall hotel has some European style looks. Parking is tight. We opted for their valet parking for $25. They also have a breakfast-lunch restaurant in the hotel.
Price is also decent compare to other hotels in Gaslamp quarter.

We are grateful for your recent review of our hotel. We are very pleased to hear you think our price value relationship is appropriate. The front of our hotel faces the popular night club Flux. Our largest rooms are our Grand Rooms, 600 square feet. We hope to have the opportunity to accommodate you again in the near future.

Husband & kids (12 & 3) & I were having a late breakfast at the Cheese Shop (typical American breakfast which was good & large enough that our kids won't bug other patrons) on our last morning in SD & decided to extend our stay one more night & moved hotels so we could stay here. The charm, history, location, & character of the hotels really drew us in. My 12 year old LOVED it more than the Hilton Bay Front where we were staying previously, they had her a free WiFi. We love the quaintness & totally dig good ghost stories so we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a very lively area & you have to take into consideration this is an old hotel so noise level may be higher than those huge 30 story hotels( windows are thinner) which are pricier & lack the history & character. Valet was fine during our stay($25/night, about average but as a heads up if you leave in your car for the day & get back after 7/8 pm, their valet may be full)reception seemed fine too although my husband dealt with that part. During check in they offered my husband a crib which was a play pen but worked just fine for our 3 year old to sleep in but he is a little shorter than most kids his age. My pillow smelled mildewy which bugged me so I didn't sleep w/ a pillow but all in all the bed was comfy as well as the room in general. I'm glad we had the opportunity to stay here & would do so again. My daughter & I took the Haunted San Diego ghost bus tour (purple bus) & we actually stooped at our hotel during your which was funny. Also went to Davis house across the street in the morning & again on the tour (at night when museum is already closed). Nice to have everything so close. Oh, air conditioner was a little slow to start but kicked in very well coffee machine made a bad cup of coffee & I don't like powder cream so skip coffee.
