Our stay began after we had just got done visiting Disneyland in Anaheim for three days. It took us four hours to fight the Friday afternoon traffic along interstate 5 to get to San Diego. We were exhausted and prepared for the gentle letdown being away from the Disney magic. Boy, were we in for a surprise!

The Check-in was quick and smooth. We were placed on the 12th floor (Club Level) with a room view that overlooked part of the bay and downtown San Diego across from it. The view was gorgeous. The boat masts below were set with the city as a background. Then we made the journey to the 14th floor where the Club Lounge was. I'm not talking about a small room with a few snacks; I'm talking about a very large room with large windows overlooking both sides of the bay. The spread was immaculate and attended by Anthony whose knowledge of the area we later depended upon.

We found out from Anthony that Torrey Pines Reserve was a must see, and how best to see the Sunset Cliffs. The next day we took his advice and discovered that the magic was not left behind at Disney, but followed us into these beautiful natural reserves. My camera's batteries were replaced several times. The best part is that the Sheraton was so centrally located to so many attractions and places to see that it made it difficult what to see. Fortunately we had Anthony to help us to decide. See Torrey Pines and the Sunset Cliffs at sunset, you won't regret it.

If you have kids (or not), you will love the pool areas (yes I meant areas plural). In the evening they had a big jumbo television showing kid movies visible from the shallow pool. They also had lounge areas with flame rock pits for the adults to relax. It was all so overwhelming that my family thought there had to have been some error that got us into such a hotel. Needless to say I was highly appreciated by my family during this stay.

Two days ago, we ate at their restaurant and I lost the receipt for our dinner. I needed it for reimbursement and the manager (Ronnie Hauptmann) was super fast and friendly in getting me a copy. Overall, service at this hotel has been amazing!

Our family of 5 came here for a fun and short overnight trip. The hotel staff was great and for what this hotel has to offer and for the price, you can't go wrong.

We enjoyed the pool in the afternoon and evening. Our kids really enjoyed the movie by the pool, just because it was so different to watch a movie on a large screen and swim at the same time.

Our accommodations were perfect, too, We were upgraded to a bigger room as I am an SPG member. We appreciated the front desk staff for spending the time to look into availability of a bigger room. Great customer service!

Stayed for 2 nights for a conference. Loved the views of the harbor from the upper floors of the marina tower. Be sure to request a higher floor on the harbor side. Hotel is 2 minutes from the airport and a free shuttle runs every 15 minutes. This was very convenient and I never waited more than 5 minutes to catch the shuttle. Room was nice, big and clean. Disappointing that WiFi wasn't included. The bar/restaurant offered average food and service and was priced about how you would expect for the location. All in all not a bad hotel for a short stay.

We were in the Bay Tower and I'm struggling to review this hotel as it has loads of positives but some drawbacks.
Positives were:
Large room, fantastic view of bay, friendly staff.

Negatives:
No free wifi something we've grown to expect from our travels in USA, we even got it in the middle of the Death Valley. It was available in the lobby but $12 to have in room.
$30 per night to park car. Seemed a bit expensive.
Only 1 eating facility on site and that was expensive too.
No breakfast included and again only available in the 1 venue.
Without a car you would pretty much be stranded here or reliant on taxis as there is no public transport nearby.

To sum up - if you wanted a one night stay before you joined a cruise ship or flight then I'd recommend this place. If you have an extended stay in San Diego then choose somewhere more central.

Dear Jod65,

Thank you very much for your recent stay and for sharing your experience. We are pleased to hear that our associates and breathless views were impressive throughout your stay.

We understand your concerns about the cost of parking, but we feel that the fees are very competitive within the surrounding area. For guests who are traveling without a vehicle and would like save on parking – the Big Bay Shuttle is the perfect way to visit all of San Diego’s most renowned destinations. For just $3 you receive an all-day pass with on/off privileges that takes picks you up at the hotel and takes you along the embarcadero.

We thank you for your review and we are hopeful for another opportunity to welcome you back if travel plans permit.

This hotel was exceptional! Our room was on the 9th floor of the Marina tower with a bay view. I loved waking up to this view! Starbucks coffee in the morning was a plus! Very comfortable beds!

The first day we purchased the Big Bay shuttle tickets to go to Seaport Village but ended up waiting for well over 45 minutes for a shuttle. I called the hotel and was transferred to the concierge desk. The woman was very friendly and sent me a different shuttle that picked my party up in 10 minutes! I was very happy with the above and beyond service they provided. When we got back to the hotel, the woman at the concierge desk (samantha, amanda, miranda?) refunded my big bay shuttle tickets. (we didn't end up using them) She then made us dinner reservations and gave us a complimentary appetizer, which definitely lightened our mood. I wish I would have known that the concierge sold discounted tickets BEFORE I purchased them at retail price.

Only thing that needs to change is the amount for parking. Unless the hotel is going to send guests away with car wash vouchers, I prefer not to pay $22 to park 5 minutes away in dirt. Also, the spa never seemed to have available appointments for massages. Luckily, the concierge is available to make appointments elsewhere.

I will definitely be coming back! Surprised this hotel doesn't have better ratings on here!

Room Tip: Ask for Marina tower, and a floor that is between 7-10

Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the Concierge. View was great from the balcony overlooking the bay. We even timed a Sailboat Race just perfect. We stayed 4 nights at the Bay Tower, and after walking all day, we enjoyed the quite hot tub and pool.

Room Tip: If your just going downtown, the Big Bay Shuttle works fine, but Sea World or the Zoo, a rental car...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
San Diego has established itself as a destination featuring world class spirit with genuine warmth. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina offers an authentic San Diego experience. Iconic sunsets and a waterfront destination…it’s comfortably upscale without pretense. As an architectural cornerstone positioned at the point of entry into the city - by air or sea - the imposing facade of the hotel reflects an architectural design inspired by the region’s naval influence. In the mid 1800s, city leaders realized the potential of the San Diego Bay and, with the anticipation of the opening of the Panama Canal, the importance of improving the harbor for commerce. Significant modifications were needed to the Bay to accommodate large ships. As a result, Harbor and Shelter Island were developed, as well as much of the land beneath the San Diego International airport. Today’s San Diego has evolved into a place to meet and share inspiration. Overlooking the scenic San Diego Bay and a private marina, the hotel is a place where San Diego soul and contemporary style go hand and hand. A Bayside resort with urban accessibility, the hotel is a waterfront hub connecting you to the destination’s renowned attractions. Ideally located within easy reach, the historic Liberty Station, the waterfront districts of Point Loma, the energy of Little Italy and the Gaslamp Quarter offer convenient, lively dining and entertainment venues. Amongst exquisite lifestyle decor and a relaxing atmosphere, the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina reflects a perfect haven for the active lifestyle that is woven deep into the region’s DNA. There are waterside fire pits and three pools - each with a unique personality. But most importantly, the hotel is designed to make best use of San Diego’s average 72 degree year-round sunny weather. Sitting on the dock of the Bay, the hotel offers access to water sport rentals and sailing tours to provide an extraordinary perspective of San Diego. Along with the diversity that found home in San Diego, the intense energy that the destination acquired offers a remarkably unique experience. Naturally, this energy worked its way into the foundation of the hotel. From the moment of arrival, the hotel is designed to offer a scenic environment with unmatched flexibility and capability. The nautically inspired guest rooms and suites come with an elegant array of amenities and social enabling conveniences. Social travelers seeking something astonishing can choose one of the spacious and well equipped suites for a unique and luxurious home away from home. Reflecting the needs of the world’s social traveler, a great hotel is built with much more than awe-inspiring design. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina enlists a warm, friendly and tenured staff that is connected to the urban energy of downtown San Diego. ... more   less
