“Good room, exceptional service.”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

We booked this room for two nights to do some sightseeing in San Diego. Nice room at a perfect location in the city. Gaslamp district, harbour, convention center, Petco Park, all within walking distance. Good continental breakfast.
Although we were already checked out we asked if we could leave the car at the parking lot as we were attending a Padres game that evening. The very helpful employee (Ramiro was his name, but he also referred to himself as 'the Asian guy') explained that actually all rooms and thus parking spaces were fully booked. However for us he made an exemption to get a parking spot as he directed us so a place on the opposite side of the reception. The spot normally wasn't used as it is very small spot which is blocked a bit by a lamp post. With some maneuvering I managed to get the car in the parking spot. That's what I call service.

Not too sure what Paul R expected from this hotel, my girlfriend and I spent two weeks there (6 to 19 July 2012) and were very, very happy with the place. We had originally intended to spend a week and then move, but decided to stay for our whole stay in SD. The room we had was very clean, good size, good bed. The bathroom was clean with a very strong shower, which you always want. The people were extremely helpful with any request we made, particularly Ramiro on the front desk, who is friendly and helpful. For location it is ideal for anyone wanting to enjoy SD as it is far enough from the noisy Downtown area to sleep, but also only a short walk to the nearest Trolley station (City College) that the whole city is easily available. We had a balcony which was very good for me as I am a smoker, but also allows you to get outside the room without having to 'go out'. We were there for ComicCon and so the price was quite high, but having checked when we were thinking of moving it was consiistent with other similar hotels. And of course once CC was over the price dropped right down. There was no pool, but for the price we did not expect one. The breakfast room was open from 0630 to 0930 and provided good food, and plenty of it: bread to make toast, bagels, cream cheese, cereal, fresh coffee, juice, drinking yoghurt etc. All in all could not recommend it enough, and should we go back to SD would stay there again.

Room Tip: If you can get one of the rooms with a balconey on the side looking toward downtown, the view is lov...

Thank you very much for your thorough review. We are so happy that you chose to extend your stay. That, more than anything, is the greatest compliment anyone can give us. Our staff works very hard to make sure every guest enjoys themselves, so thank you for pointing that out. We are also glad that you managed to use our close proximity to public transportation as a jumping off point to many of San Diego's best attractions.

We hope you won't have to wait until next year's Comic Con to visit us again!

Not in a great location. This is really a Motel not a Hotel. Not at all as nice as it should be for the price. Would be fine if the price were way less. Got screwed having to stay here a night due to their bad cancellation policy, tried to cancel 13 days ahead of time but they require 14. Definitely look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Book something in Gaslamp or the Holiday Inn Express next door at the very least.

We are very disappointed that you were unhappy with your stay. In looking at your review, it appears that your main complaint had to do with your inability to cancel your reservation without penalty, and that apparently soured your experience from that moment forward. Our cancellation policy is clearly set forth at the time of booking. Moreover, depending on with whom you made your reservation, we may not have had any discretion at all to accommodate your request. This is why you are always best served by making reservations directly with our property, as our cancellation policy is always more favorable than third party/online travel options, as well as other benefits.

We hope you will give us another opportunity in the future to change your impression of us.

The room was nice and everyone was more than helpful. We wished it had a pool and shuttle. The price was a little high because of Comic Con. Dustin helped us get a cab to the airport when our Super Shuttle did not show on time which we appreciated. It was a little walk to where we wanted to go but that was o.k.

Thank you very much for submitting your review. The week of Comic Con is definitely not for the faint of heart. With so many people descending upon downtown San Diego all at the same time, it certainly represents a challenge. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay, and we especially appreciate your kind words about Dustin. All of our front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance staff go out of their way to make sure everyone has the best stay possible.

I had no problems, the guy at the desk was nice and efficient, the room was fine, its the older style hotel with the doors on the outside, but was ok. No problems at all. The bed was comfortable, the TV was the old tube style, but worked fine. A bit of a walk from the convention center but I could deal with it.
Nice place.

Thaank you very much for your thorough review. Our number one priority is to make sure every guest is treated well, and enjoys his or her stay to the fullest. Our property is located within easy walking distance of downtown, Balboa Park, Horton Plaza, the Gaslamp District, and the Convention Center, and is also often serviced by shuttled services for larger conventions. Moreover, there is a trolley stop closeby which brings Old Town, Fashion Valley, Tijuana, and many other points of interest within reach without a car.

Thanks for staying with us, and we hope to see you again soon.

Customer service was horrible...

The guy named Zack at reception should not be part of this hotel. If he is in the services industry, he should understand that customer care is top priority. Zack had an attitude, rolled his eyes and had no respect for a customer.

Never again in my life staying at a Days Inn, especially this location in San Diego if Zack is still part of the staff.

3 girls who wanted to stay downtown without spending a fortune! I am not a picky person when it comes to staying at a hotel as long as the rooms are nice. I think this hotel has a long way to go. It doesn't give the greatest impression on the outside. When we walked in the room was nice! We only slept there one night so my review is based on this. As the night progressed it got more and more moist. By morning the carpet felt dewy. And it was really noisy. Right next to Interstate. It is at a great location and has great potential. I just think it needs a little more work done.

We sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet your expectations, nor ours. If it isn't too much trouble, we would greatly appreciate a phone call to our General Manager to get more details regarding your experience, particularly the room number so that we can investigate the source of moisture. Was this complaint communicated to our front desk prior to check out? If your stay was for more than one night, we would have gladly moved you to another room if available. Our phone number is 619-239-2285.

We hope you will give us an opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future.
