“Real Value for Money!”
Reviewed May 18, 2011

Before booking up this hotel I had mixed feelings whether to proceed or not ,reading a few reviews here about the property, breakfast etc. I continued and booked up with them and I never regretted! It was a good experience staying with them. Real Value for Money!, the double room, we booked as we had children with us, was spacious, bed -comfortable with lovely set of pillows! Rooms were cleaned up in a prompt way. The breakfast was really filling with 3 kinds of donuts, chocolate chip muffins, 2 kinds of sticky buns, fruits, cereals, milk, coffee, tea and juices!

It is conveniently located which has access to buses and trolleys and not too far from the airport as well!

Last but not the least we appreciated immensely the service rendered by Jeff, who was taking care of the reception, who was kind and much helpful to us!

Thank you very much for your kind words. We are particularly pleased with your comments regarding our staff. Carlos, Jeff, Dustin, Amiro, and Art go out of their way to make sure each guest receives exceptional care, and your acknowledgement of their efforts is wonderful testament. We are also glad that you found our beds comfortable, as we are well under way to upgrading every mattress with a luxurious pillow top mattress.

Our goal is to offer great service, outstanding value, and a comfortable night's sleep. We hope to see you again soon!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Days Inn. I first came to San Diego for a convention and have since returned a few times. This was my first stay at a Days Inn anywhere. I was really surprised by how much they offer for free (internet, breakfast, etc), things I typically pay extra for at other hotels. On the day I arrived, I saw that they were moving in several new mattresses, and I was lucky enough to get a brand new mattress for my stay. If only my mattress at home was as comfortable!

The front desk staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the housekeeping department did a great job cleaning my room each day. I spent time during the day at Balboa Park, and a couple of wonderful evenings in the Gaslamp Quarter, both of which were very close by. I only wish I had stayed here the last time I came to town for a cruise, since it is also very close to the cruise terminal.

I'll be returning for another convention at the Convention Center soon, and I'll definitely stay here again.

Thank you very much for your kind thoughts, and we are very happy that you were able to enjoy the new mattress! We are in the process of converting a number of our rooms into "Business Place" rooms which feature upgraded bedding, a large, well-lit work area, as well as a daily snack. We continually strive to provide our guests with an unparalleled value for their hard-earned dollar.

Thanks as well for pointing out our hard working and friendly front desk and housekeeping staff. They really do want everyone to enjoy their stay, so please let them know if there is anything that you need during your stay.

We look forward to serving you with distinction on your next stay!

Stayed there with family. Location is great, very close to downtown, harbor and Gas Lamp district. Rooms are OK and standard. Free breakfast was OK and represent an important point travelling with a family of 4, although having it in the very tight lobby of the hotel is extremelly uncomfortable. The is almost no place to seat. If more than two families are present, it is impossible to accomodate everyone. Staff is friendly. Room service however is not 24h. We needed an extra towel at 07:00 AM (there wasn´t sufficient towes for the four of us), phoned the reception and were informed that there would be cleaning staff only after 0800 hs. Therefore, I had to go to the reception myself, which was not a big deal anyway.
In sum, very good value combining location, accomodations and price.

As the saying goes, "LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION." Our property really is ideally located in beautiful San Diego, whether your trip is for business, pleasure, or a little of both. With close proximity to the airport, the Gaslamp Quarter, downtown, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and Sea World, we strive to meet everyone's needs. Thank you for pointing out our friendly staff, as well as the extra value we provide in the form of a free breakfast. Other free amenities include free parking and free wireless internet. We hope to see you on a future visit where you may be able to take advantage of our new Business Class rooms which feature upgraded linens, a larger/brighter work area, free snack and bottled water, and other amenities!

We stayed here for 3 nights in January. Downtown San Digoe hotels can be expensive, but we got an amazing rate directly on Days Inn's website (with a more relaxed cancellation policy than Expedia).

The hotel is a 10 min drive from the airport, and a few blocks from I5, a 20-min walk from the Gas Lamp district (safe walk, good exercise and saves on the parking fees at night). Checkin was smooth, with very friendly and courteous front desk staff.

The room (king) was spacious, clean, and had a nice view of downtown, with a balcony. A complimentary in-room safe was a pleasant suprise. We didn't use the mini-fridge or microwave, but those could be quite handy for many other guests.

Breakfast is served in the lobby area, with a good variety of items (pastries, oatmeal, juices, coffee/tea, fruit), although there isn't much place to sit so most guests take their breakfast back to their rooms.

The free parking worked well for us and our midsize rental, but SUVs/minivans/trucks might have a challenge parking in the rear parking lot (no issue with the front parking lot). There is street parking next to the hotel (free at night, metered during the day).

Overall, an amazing deal to top off a wonderful trip in SD. Hope to stayer here again in the future.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We truly do strive to provide the best experience for each of our guests, and your positive comments is not only greatly appreciated, but validates our efforts. Between renovating our rooms, adding menu items to our free breakfast, to the recent addition of "Business Class" rooms, we see ourselves as an ideal property for business and leisure travel. Due to our close proximity to downtown, the airport, and the convention center, we welcome many business travelers, but also see a great number of leisure travelers who take advantage of the nearby Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and Sea World.

We look forward to seeing you again soon!

I checked in here late after a disaster with another hotel. This place is amazing. The rooms are a bit small, but the beds and linen are
so comfortable. The free parking is absolutely a gem and the breakfast is the best 'free' one I've had. They really do look after you and reception was extremely helpful. The place is also excellently!! Located just a 5 min walk to Gaslamp and a short (2 stops) bus ride to Balboa park. This is the best Days Inn I've stayed at.

i would recommend Days Inn for anybody travelling to San Diego on a bit of a budget but not wishing to stay in a grubby downtown hostel!

On arrival we did find the car park a little cramped, but it wasn't a great problem to squeeze the car in. Check-in was easy and as we were staying a few days we were offered a top floor room with a view of downtown towards Petco Park.

Easy walking distance to Gaslamp and the ballpark, rooms cleaned every day and fresh towels etc.

Only downside was when we went to check out at 5-30am there was nobody on the desk, so we have to slide a note under the door and post the keys through the letterbox!

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review. We take great pride in the cleanliness and value that our property offers, so we are glad to hear comments that reflect our efforts. As one of the few downtown properties that offers free parking, our lot can get a bit crowded.

I do apologize for the minor inconvenience you experienced upon checking out, and I can assure you that I will investigate the circumstances to make sure it does not happen to anyone else.

Thanks once again for your comments, and I hope you will stay with us again in the future.

The hotel is on a corner in a decent location downtown, which was in walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops. The parking lot (which you don't get charged for) is tiny and the spaces are practically on top of each other- but at least you don't have to pay for it.
Our room was on the 3rd floor and was really clean and spacious. The only complaint about the room - the heater did not work and the towels sucked. Other than that there were no complaints about the room.
The staff was decent yet seemed a litle lax in some areas - we were awoken at 2:30am by drunks coming in and the noise and chaos lasted toooooo long before the hotel staff decided to do anything about it. I had to call downstairs and even attempted to call the police. It was annoying! When I told the hotel staff in the morning, they only said they can't do a lot about it due to people partying....they offered us a "discount" the next time we stay - but provided no proof of it and only gave us their "card." So I doubt that will happen.
The continental breakfast was like any other at a hotel - donuts, cereal and fruit. However, there was no where to sit...they have it sitting out in their lobby which is tiny.
I wouldn't mind staying there again because of location and decency of the room, but the staff need to get a hold of their patrons and make it decent for the rest of the people that stay there.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review. We certainly take pride in the appearance of our rooms, and we are glad that you took notice. We also strive to offer great value, and our free breakfast and free parking go a long ways towards that goal.

That said, we do apologize for the noise caused by other guests. Although we circulate, in writing, our "quiet time policy" at the time of check in, there are still isolated instances where some of our guests do not comply. Aside from asking them to be quiet, and ultimately calling the police, there is a limit to how we can respond to such problems.

We hope to have the opportunity to exceed your expectations on a future visit.
