Stayed for just one night in a renovated suite on the sixth floor and loved the comfy king bed, interesting decor and big room with plenty of natural light. our suite faced south and it was very quiet. Easy walk to the museums in Balboa Park and to Hillcrest for dinner.

We stayed here for fours nights in November and decided to splurge for the 2 bdrm suite. It ended up being a huge apartment. Two full size bedrooms an enormous living room, dining area and kitchenette. Having two teenagers this kind of space is a complete luxury. It is an older building which we love it had big windows and a lot of natural light. We had a view of Balboa park. Loved the neighborhood, went to the park and hillcrest neighborhood several times. There were many good restaurants close by. The front desk staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was a bit week but for $5 you could order a decent hot breakfast. The dining room was great up on the rooftop with 360 degree views of the city and bay. We cannot wait to go back and stay longer.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 602 very nice, although there was some traffic noise.

My wife and I stayed here during a pleasure trip to San Diego. It's location right next to Balboa Park was very nice. It's an easy walk into the park and all of the attractions that are located there. For the most part, traffic around the hotel was light and manageable. Given the central location within the city, it was easy to get to Little Italy, Old City, Gaslamp, etc.

The only real problem we had with the place had to do with construction. They were about 50% of the way complete when we stayed there. The updated rooms are very large and very nice, with a full kitchen. All of our appliances were new and in great working condition. The issue we did have was with the newly installed air conditioning. The pump used to remove water from the air conditioning system ran every few minutes and was in the ceiling above the bed room. That caused us to hear the pump when it ran. The noise wasn't overbearing or anything, but did get annoying. The front desk staff were very understanding and apologetic and stated that it was on the list to be fixed. Unfortunately, there really wasn't anything that the staff could do to fix it for us.

Overall, it was a great stay!

Henrymc0: Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit to Inn at the Park. While we are thrilled to be offering A/C and Heat in all guest suites, I must apologize for the inconvenience of the noise you sustained in your room caused by the pump. This issue has been addressed and we feel that this challenge has been rectified. Thank you for comments regarding this challenge as we welcome all feedback. I am pleased to hear that through this challenge you were able to enjoy your visit and overall, it was a great stay. We look forward to your return visit. Thank you for being our guest.

We were totally impressed with the hotel room decor. We stayed in a studio and had plenty of room and storage area. We felt like it could live here full time. Great kitchen, walk-in closet and comfortable bed. Great prices and great food in the upstairs breakfast restaurant. The only real negatives were the daily parking fee and the very slow elevator. But over all, we'd easily give it an 8.

Room Tip: Ask for a room up high facing the park.

We checked into the “Inn at the Park” for a four night stay in San Diego, we stayed seven. Greeted by warm and friendly Valet’s upon arriving ( Kaveh and Paul). The front desk staff
( Erick and Robin ) was expecting us and were both very efficient and welcoming. The concierge, Brooke and another gentleman always asked if they could be of assistance throughout our stay.
Our room was very nice, a two bedroom suite with a galley style kitchen, large bathroom and large living room. The kitchen was complete with a nice stove, microwave, and three quarter size fridge. It was well stocked with utensils and dishes for four including coffee maker, cream and sugar. The room was new and had recently been tastefully remodeled. The beds were firm, comfy and had nice sheets with plenty of blankets. Housekeeping was excellent. The heat and air conditioning worked well and we were always comfortable. Windows opened for fresh air.
The Rooftop Breakfast / Lunchroom has one of the best views in the city( see pictures). It is elegant with white linen and real dishware, no Styrofoam here. There is Outdoor seating where you can enjoy your breakfast in San Diego’s nice climate. There are plenty of great choices on the FREE breakfast table ( see picture) with excellent selections and low prices on the “made to order” breakfast menu. The coffee is good. The server who met us, Danielle, was always warm, friendly and always had a smile. She remembered our names and what we ordered each day.
The Dinner Restaurant is on the street level and is well known for terrific food amongst the locals. Our server, Frank, was super personable. We invited some of our friends from SD to join us for dinner and he guided our selections to a fantastic meal, complete with champagne. My wife’s steak was cooked perfectly, my short ribs tender, and the risotto creamy and tasty.
Having said all that, I come to our favorite part of the stay “ Jersey” , the Bartender. She has made this small classy hotel bar into THE neighborhood hangout, “where everyone knows your name”, she is truly special. Jersey not only knows how to mix fantastic cocktails but is aware of everything that is going on in her bar, she never misses a thing. She knows all the locals and guests by name and makes you immediately feel like you are in her home. She is warm, beautiful, and has a heart as big as the bay. She made our stay so wonderful that we extended it several days, it was so much fun! Be sure to try the “ Jersey Juice “ !
The bar is a piano bar with great music nightly, ranging from Jazz to contemporary with Karaoke on Monday nights. While this hotel is very nice, a good bargain, and well positioned close to the Zoo, Balboa Park, Freeways, downtown, and Hillcrest , the real attraction are it’s employees. They all made our stay unforgettable. This hotel appears to be very well managed by someone who appreciates their employees, you can just tell, overall attitudes like this come from the top.
The Inn at The Park is not just a hotel, it’s an experience. I recommend it to Families, couples for romance, and singles. We will be back !

Room Tip: Rooms on the West side would have less noise and a great view, but the East side is nice too.

This place has many strengths:
1- excellent location across Balboa Park and you can walk up to Hillcrest easily. Safe location, relatively easy to find parking in about two blocks around the hotel.
2- great staff on hand - Rob, Kaitlyn et al very helpful and accomodating and the housekeeping is good.
3- recently renovated, big euro-style rooms with kitchens. (A note for the previous reviewer: There are windows other than the ones in the kitchen and the bathroom - just hidden behind the couch - and they are big;)
Now, onto the few negatives:
1- my room on 2nd floor looking to Spruce Street gets some street noise, light sleepers may want to stay in upper floors or on another side of the building.
2- breakfast is very basic - do not get your hopes high.
3- wi-fi is somewat spotty - though i'm writing this via the said wi-fi.
