If you want something better than a typical motel but don't want to pay the prices for 5 star high rise hotel accommodations, then Old Town Inn (OTI) is the best choice. In my experience, I would compare OTI with a really good Holiday Inn Express. The rooms are very clean, roomy and modern. The showers are great with lots of hot water. The breakfasts are excellent and the coffee is particularly good. The king size bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. The staff is very attentive, friendly and helpful. OTI is centrally located and freeway access is not far away. Old Town is just down the street which is well worth a visit. They have a library of movies on DVD that you can play in your room. About the only downside is that there is some road noise and some airport noise but that is basically true of all hotels in downtown San Diego. OTI is a great hotel at a great price.

Truely a hidden gem. Stayed for three nights, was able to check in early 9 am, and enjoyed heated pool, continental breakfast, very dog friendly. Anna at the front desk was very helpful with accomodations, directions to attractions and dinning. Housekeeping worked well with schedule, cleaning room when we left with dog. 5 minutes to Seaworld, 10 minutes to Zoo. Great location. Large king bed room with couch. Lots of free movies to watch. Pool was warm. Fresh coffee, lemon water, and tea always available. Thanks Anna for our great San Diego vacation. Great rates.

I stayed at the Old Town Inn with my husband, nephew (who was visiting us from FL), and 2 small dogs for 2 nights, beginning Friday, 11-27-09. The Inn's employees, especially Mary, were top notch--very friendly, helpful, and professional. There's fresh, hot coffee available in the lobby at all times, a heated pool, beautiful flowering vegetation, and a great complimentary breakfast. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Although we drove from Tempe, AZ, the hotel was very convenient to the San Diego airport and not directly under the jets' flight paths, so the noise wasn't distracting. The hotel is within walking distance to Old Town with its great shops, museums, and restaurants, and also to public transportation, which made visiting the Gas Lamp District a pleasure as we did not have to worry about driving while under the influence or taking pricey cabs. The Old Town Trolley Tour began and ended in Old Town--definitely a must-do if it's your first visit to the area. Access to Sea World and La Jolla was a breeze, as the freeway entrance was about 2 blocks away. The San Diego Harbor was an easy drive for those going fishing or seeking a good seafood restaurant. For those wanting to see the majesty of the Pacific Ocean and the California coast, Sunset Cliffs was a short drive from the Inn as well. We will definitely stay at the Old Town Inn on our next visit to the San Diego area.

The value of this location is excellent. The facilities are well kept. The breakfast is very nice. There are many nice touches offered, such as the lovely urn of cold water in the lobby, the free internet, or the complimentary coffee in the lobby. The most noticeable difference is the friendly staff and their pleasant demeanor and relationships. It's like staying with good friends or family!
