We've stayed at the Ocean Park Inn usually each Feb or Mar, for a week or more. The staff is cordial and helpful - the hotel is always clean... a delightful place to enjoy the San Diego beach and area restaurants. Convenient to park in lower level.
We look forward to staying next year!

The rooms are old, the hotel is old. If this wasn't on the ocean this would be a $70 / night hotel. That being said the hotel is on the ocean with nice views, and the staff was friendly and very nice. I give it 2 stars because of the size and quality of the room for the price.

Room Tip: If a hotel on the ocean is a must then I would consider this BUT you will way overpay for the qualit...

Thank you for your feedback, Matt.

We're disappointed you don't like all of the renovations and updates we've done over the last few years. Our most recent upgrade, brand new bathrooms in each guestroom, has received high praise from a large majority of our guests. The new bathrooms are in addition to the renovated lobby and pool areas, new furniture on the patios and by the pool, light fixtures throughout the hotel, an upgraded continental breakfast, new carpet and paint throughout the hotel, and many other additions.

The process of updated the property is continuous, as we continue to improve our amenities to ensure we offer the best value in Pacific Beach. If you have further suggestions as to how we could have improved your stay and/or our amenities, we would love to hear from you. Guest feedback is valued highly, and it is often taken into consideration when mapping out the future of the property.

We very much appreciate the compliments about our staff, and we do hope you enjoyed your time in San Diego!

The OPI is not a luxury hotel, but it is one of my all-time favorites. We have stayed twice in the past two years, and can't say enough good things about it. The location is absolutely perfect- right on the beach and walking distance to almost anywhere in Pacific or Mission Beach. Both times we have booked partial ocean view rooms, which look out on the pool and actually seem to be full ocean views. The rooms themselves are clean and relatively modern, with fridges and small balconies (and amazing views). The free breakfast is not exactly gourmet, but is generous and includes fruit, yogurt, cereal, and a waffle bar.

We found the staff to be quite friendly and helpful. The hairdryer in our room stopped working as I was getting ready for a wedding- I panicked, but the maintenance man came within 10 minutes to replace it, which I very much appreciated.

Overall, I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for a reasonably priced and centrally located beach hotel. I've stayed in a few other hotels in the area, but none come close to the OPI.

Room Tip: Partial ocean view rooms that overlook the pool are really full ocean views. The rooms with balconie...

We recently spent 5 days at the hotel. We thought the location was perfect with easy access to the beach, the constant sound of the surf, the sunsets, the pier, the boardwalk, etc. The underground parking is handy and reasonably priced. The room and bath were attractive, clean, and up to date. The heated pool and hot tub are in good shape in a very nice courtyard and appear very handicapped accessible. The staff were helpful and friendly including coming up with an early check in. There's lots to do in the area and the necessary shops are in walking distance including a large appealing grocery store and an adequate Starbucks (nothing special). We enjoyed the many good restaurants in the area. The continental breakfast is bare-bones--we skipped it for the most part. Wi-Fi is spotty so I used my own mobile hotspot. See the additional note about room location. We would definitely come back again and would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Room 313 (partial ocean view king) was a great location. There's a full view of the ocean with...

This hotel is situated right on Pacific Beach and in a great location for good sunsets and boardwalk strolls. It's a great price if you are trying to save money, but be sure to pack your own supplies since the amenities are pretty slim. My daughter and I were able to rent a DVD player from the hotel and grab some Redbox movies from the Ralph's across the street for evening entertainment since the TV channels were pretty paltry. The pool is nicely heated, though the wind sneaks up over the glass walls during the day. Overall, the hotel was clean and certainly suited our needs.

We chose the Ocean Park Inn because of it's proximity to all that is fun in San Diego. This hotel sits steps from the beach, from great restaurants, shopping, and late night revelry. The heated pool and hot tub added to the atmosphere. We stayed five nights and we are pleased to say that we would happily go back. The cost of the 5 nights and the other hotel options around Pacific Beach made this an easy and affordable choice. The hotel is clean and recently renovated.
Our room was on the ground floor and had a walk out patio enclosure overlooking the pool and boardwalk. The staff was welcoming and attentive.
There is a great deal of restaurant options in the area. There is a grocery store across the street, a Starbucks and plenty of surf shops.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor overlooking the pool, rm #115 is great.

We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time with us! We work very hard to offer our guests the best value in Pacific Beach. Thank you for taking the time to mention some of the great amenities we offer, as well as many of the nearby attractions. There is never any shortage of things to do when in PB! Thanks again for the feedback and we hope to see you soon.

We spent a week in Feb. in the 3rd floor king 1BR suite at OPI. It was our second stay in this hotel (and this room) in two years. The location--right on Pactific Beach, with a Starbucks across the street, is ideal for Pacific Northwesterners like us seeking a break from the cold and rain. We selected the suite so that we could eat in, but were disappointed that the kitchen included very few basic cooking utensils--we had to buy a pan, spatula, paring knife, and cutting board at Goodwill because none of these were provided. The suite lacks a dishwasher; housekeeping will sometimes (but not always) clean dishes left in the sink. We experienced numerous dropouts with the free WiFi coverage, which seems to be underpowered to handle the number of rooms. TV reception is mediocre and no on-demand entertainment is offered. The hot tub was out of order, to our great disappoinment. The hotel is adjacent to a very loud night club (the Firehouse Lounge) and rooms on the east side of the hotel will experience pounding bass lines until about 10pm on weekend and holiday evenings.

Overall, this seems to be one of the better hotels in Pacific Beach, but that isn't saying much as average hotel quality in this neighborhood is quite poor. OPI would be a better value if they provided higher-quality amenities one expects from $200+ rooms and did a better job maintaining the pool and hot tub.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west (beach) and north sides are quieter; those facing east front a noisy nightclub and...

Thank you for your feedback, William.

Let me begin by extending a personal apology for the issues you encountered with utensils and dishes in the suite. The suites with kitchenettes should be fully stocked with the tools needed to cook, and although many of our housekeepers are new, dishes left in the sink is not something you should have encountered. These issues have been passed along, and appropriate action will be taken.

We are a bit confused, however, about your comments regarding the pool and hot tub. Our maintenance staff goes above and beyond to ensure both are in top shape, and neither are ever closed (during regular pool hours) for more time than it takes to clean them. During your stay, there may have been a three hour period where we drained the pool halfway to install a new light bulb, but other than that neither the pool nor the hot tub have been "closed."

We're disappointed you did find value in your stay with us. We strive to offer the most "bang for your buck" here in Pacific Beach with the most complimentary and/or most affordable amenities while keeping our rates extremely competitive. For your next stay, we would recommend one our suites more suitable for families - we are very open and up front about the possibilities of disruptions with the particular suite you booked, as stated in the room description on our website. We would be more than happy to recommend alternative rooms and suites for next time!

We very much value your feedback, thanks again.
