We went with our 2 kids, and it was a blast. Rental boats and jet skies right outside, water taxi to coronado island is less than .5 mile away. SeaPort village is there as well. not to mention the pools and spa inside the hotel.

The Marriott Marquis Marina is located perfectly to provide for strolls around the Marina or a walk to the Gaslight District for dinner and drinks. The pool area is superb and the service outstanding. We'll come back the next trip to San Diego.

This is by far my absolute favorite in San Diego. Management and corporate have done an outstanding job in making this a welcome, well- run establishment from check-in to check out. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the housekeeping staff so helpful. Views of the bay are so relaxing. Ate breakfast at the restaurant and the food was plentiful, delicious and came out of the kitchen nice and hot and in a timely manner. Love the new cafe in the "living area" along with the Starbucks for an early morning tea or coffee. One of the best hotel pools in the area with rock formations and waterfall. Plenty of lounge chairs available too. At night you can relax out by the pool in the upholstered couches and chairs. Walking distance to Gaslamp and Seaport Village. You gotta stay here.

Room Tip: Best rooms are in the south tower, high floor, bayside.

We stayed here because it is adjacent to convention center, though I was hesitant, given the hotel's size, and typically prefer boutique hotel if available. Given the number of rooms and the hotel being pretty much at capacity during part of our 5 day stay, we thought this Marriott did an impressive job in many areas. It is incredibly clean inside and out: early one morning there was a crew of three diligently polishing the chrome railings on all the handrails in the very inviting pool area; another morning a man was equally meticulous in cleaning an awning over a rear entrance to the hotel. Our room in the South Tower was fine both in size and decor, though the trains seem to run all night and might bother some sleepers. Casual outdoor dining was decent -- both food and service; service at the indoor restaurant, even on a slower day, left a bit to be desired -- maybe they were just recovering from several busier days during the convention. The hotel is conveniently located on the marina and offers easy access to many restaurants and tourist destinations.

Two minor suggestions: 1) It certainly would be nice if the lobby Starbucks stayed open a bit longer and prepared with both enough help and sufficient stock to serve their customers -- they are not maximizing their profits nor serving guests as well as they might. 2) An occasional check of the pool by pool attendent (picking up wet towels left all day, for example, or security (unaccompanied kids under 14 and some dangerous horseplay) might be nice.

This is one of the nicest Marriott's we've stayed in. The hotel is beautiful as is the entire property. Several meal choices including Roy's Hawiian but be prepared for it to be on the expensive side. Pool side service is available but drinks ran well over $10 ++.

Hotel is right next to the convention center, across the street from the Gaslamp district, right on the bay and has a water taxi service to Coronado (worth the trip over). Pool area is beautiful with plenty of chairs and there is an adult only jacuzzi. Gym is spacious and well apportioned. Currently there is no spa but rumour has it they are thinking of adding one. Fire pits outside at night and lots of places to hang out.
Concierge level was the best we've ever seen. Huge breakfasts and more than enough during the 'happy hour' to make dinner. Staff were very attentive to patron's needs and refilled everything and cleaned up quickly when people left during busy times.

Only downside to this hotel (and probably others right near by) is the train and trolley tracks that are across the street. Trains blow horns when they go through and the trollies ring their bells constantly. If you are there more than a few days you get used to it but they are loud.

The upside to the trolley is you can catch it close to the hotel and take it all over the city and it's worth the $5 all day pass. Children's museum is also right across the train tracks (2 block walk).

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the bay side in the South Tower which may be quieter. Corner rooms are very spaci...

I recently stayed at this hotel for a business conference and was BEYOND PLEASED with the experience. Rooms are up to date and exceptionally clean, food choices are broad and excellent, public areas are lovely, and the service was above and beyond.
I receommend this location without reservation.

We stayed at this hotel right after Comic-Con for 1 week with our 2 daughters, aged 5 and 15. We reserved a package through Orbitz with for a room with a balcony. We were given a room in the north tower 16 th floor with a bay view. It was a wonderful view and the balcony is worth the extra cost! The hotel could not have been better located, with Seaport village right in back and the tramway service across the street to help us get to the Zoo, Seaworld, etc. There are lots of comments concerning the noisy train, so I had asked before my arrival for an upper level room facing the bay and did not hear a thing. The room was recenty renovated and very clean and the staff was top notch! Also, the pool area was very nice and well maintened. In all, we had a great stay and would come back any time to this hotel!

Room Tip: Choose a room in the north tower , upper floor with a bay view with a balcony ( really woth it!)
