“Great long weekend trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

I stayed in the Manchester Grand Hyatt in June while I was participating in the San Diego Rock&Roll half marathon and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The property really is "Grand" with a fantastic lobby area and great common areas such as the pool/game floor and the adult pool. The rooms were very clean and well appointed and the staff friendly and helpful. After the race I had a massage at the Kin Spa in the hotel and left refreshed and relaxed.

The location of the hotel is also grand. The hotel is right on San Diego bay next to the Seaport District, and a short walk to the convention center, Gaslamp Quarter, and Petco Park. If you don't have a car you can jump on the trolley right across the street to go south to Tijuana or north to Old Town and Mission Valley.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing San Diego bay. You can get a bay side room without paying for the premium &quo...

My husband and I spent two nights this week at the Hyatt next to Sea Port Village on an unplanned trip to San Diego. My husband had had a medical emergency on our flight to Puerto Vallarta and ended up in the hospital in San Diego. The Hyatt Hotel was wonderful. Stephanie that checked us in arranged for complementary chicken noodle soup, rolls, water, ginger ale, and a get well card to be sent to our room because she figured he wasn't up to going out that evening. It was just what he needed. Our room was beautiful, clean, and modern, with an amazing view of the marina, the Coronado Bridge, and the Hotel Del. We had wonderful breakfasts in their buffet each morning (the homemade granola is so yummy on the Greek yogurt) and the wifi was fast. The trolley is right across the street, it close to the airport, cruise terminal, convention center, and the Gaslight District. Sea Port Village and the surrounding area are filled with great restaurants and unique shops. I lived most of my life in San Diego until moving to the northwest and would say this is the perfect spot for a visit to San Diego.
We will stay here now whenever we return to San Diego and we have already recommended it to a friend after our wonderful experience here.

Room Tip: The club rooms are a wonderful choice. We were in room 2939.

We stayed in a very nice, comfortable room on the club floor. Our main objection was we felt that the service was not as good as it could be. Sometimes it took multiple calls to get a toiletry delivered to the room. The club room is very nice, but the people who work in the club room are not very engaging; they seem rather blaise.

Having stayed at the Manchester Hyatt in San Diego two years earlier, prior to the renovations, and vowing never to return, I was surprised to see such excellent reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor in 2014. So finding myself having to spend time at a conference in San Diego, I decided to give the Manchester Hyatt another try based on the TA reviews…

I arrived at about 11am on a Saturday, check-in was quiet, and the hotel reception is really quite impressive. The room was not ready, so I took keys to the Club/Concierge room, checked that out and went for lunch. Not long after I sat down, I received the promised text and was shown to room 3902 on the 39th floor. The room was big, modern, clean and a huge improvement on my last visit. Everything still looks and feels fresh and new.

The good stuff in the room:
- Big room, by any standards
- Awesome view. Even looking directly at Seaport Tower I could see the bay either side, a beautiful sunset and amazing city lights from my room on the 39th floor
- Entryway with lots of room for luggage
- Lots of closet space, hangers, robes and a safe big enough for a laptop
- HUGE tv on a wall mounted swivel unit
- Plenty of tv channels
- Good soaps, toiletries, even mouthwash and toothpaste
- Surprisingly comfortable bed - if you want it, the clock radio could even tune in to meditation sounds to lull you in a beautiful sleep

I have two minor 'issues' with the room. First is the 'plastic' sofa in front of the window area, which is neither comfortable or useful (it's facing the wrong way) - but it does help give a fresh/modern feeling to the room. Second, the shower is still over the bath - but still the shower curtains and fittings are all new, and clean.

The Club/Concierge room on the 33rd floor was very quiet, even at breakfast, but served a good variety of food at all the presentations. Staff were courteous and helpful, and there was always soft drinks, hot drinks, water and yogurt - 24 hours a day. You could almost make a meal of the appetizers and wine served between 5-8pm. Come back for desert before 9pm and then breakfast in the morning. On the other hand, the bar on the 40th floor, although it has a great view, is not nearly as nice as the Club room - it's dark and the food was poor when I visited.

Staff throughout the Hyatt were happy to help, whether getting a taxi, carrying bags or general enquiries. Staff at the concierge in reception were more than pleased to give advice on where to go and what to do, from procuring cut price tickets to that night's baseball to providing a list of 'local' restaurants with a map.

After a couple of days into my trip, and still really wanting to find something to complain about I was out of luck. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Manchester Hyatt, the hotel is classic but modern and the staff willing to please. I'm looking forward to next year's San Diego conference already!

We got a great rate at a great hotel. Conveniently located near downtown but right on the bay. Twelve minute walk to the ballpark. Great concierge service. Great pool on the 3rd floor that was empty twice. Fitness room had most gear. Parking, though is expensive and we didn't eat there.

This place really impressed me. The lobby was beautiful and Grand. The location was close to all the places I wanted to go. It is located downtown by the bay. The room was amazing. Beds comfortable and clean. I will definitely stay here again.
