“Nice Stay For Business Travel”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

Visiting on business. Had a nicely remodeled room where the carpet even smelled new. Room was clean, housekeeping staff was polite and helpful. Ordered room service which was much better than some I've had before.

I would have liked a second bar of soap in the bathroom (one for the sink and one for the shower) and it was obvious the newly updated rooms still had old towels (thin and "crisp").

I found the areas for large meeting spaces to be well lit but quite cold- bring a sweater.

Room Tip: Harbor side does have some trolley noise and an occasional annoyance from a plane. I was on the 18th...

I never have high hopes for hotels near the Convention Cneter, but the Manchester Grand Hyatt was lovely. Nicely sized and appointed rooms. I was given a room with a view of the Midway Aircraft carrier. The food for all catered meetings was outstanding. How they made chicken for 800 people taste good and not dry, I will never know.

I had the pleasure of staying here on a business trip (a conference being held at the hotel) for 5 nights. Great service and hotel amenities. Everything was spotless. WiFi is free and there are several retaurants in the hotel and close by. I ate at Sally's, just outside the hotel next to Seaport Village (a Disneyfied "fishing village" shopping area on the harbour that is not worth visiting IMHO). The penthouse suite on the 31st floor was magnificent, with windows on 3 sides and gorgeous views. My room on the 20th floor was newly renovated. My only minor issue was the water in the shower was not excessively hot, even on maximum temperature, but one of my colleauges did not have the same experience. As with many business hotels, prices for catering and food can be exorbitant: $99 for a gallon (15 cups) of coffee, plus 25% "hospitality" (mugs, cream and sugar) plus 18% gratuity! Luckily there is a Ralph's grocery store a short distance away. The hotel is a short walking distance to the restaurants and clubs on 5th Avenue (Gaslamp district). All in all, a great stay at the Hyatt!

Top notch service from every staff member we encountered. The front desk staff truly went out of there way to make us feel welcome. The hotel is undergoing a renovation, and we were fortunate enough to get an updated room. The room was very nicely appointed, and a real upgrade from the non renovated rooms we were to having. We were given a room with a harbor view. Unfortunately, due to business demands, we weren't able to spend as much time admiring the view as we would have liked. This hotel has our business for years to come.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbor view, higher floor. You can't go wrong.

My husband and I stayed here for our 16th wedding anniversary and was pleasantly surprised how polite the staff treated us. They asked if it was a special occasion when we checked in, we told them it was our anniversary and they sent a bottle of champagne, chocolates, and a hand written card, 10 minutes after we checked in. When the housekeeper saw this the next morning, she left us a very nice hand written note. It's nice to see this type of special treatment. It really made our long weekend special. The location was perfect for walking to shopping, dining & sight seeing. I will recommend the Manchester to all who ask where to stay in San Diego. Great views too!

Beautiful hotel friendly staff but paper thin walls and the designer choose form over function. We could hear everything being said in the room next to ours and the room is not designed to be occupied by two people. No drawer space and no room in bathroom for toiletries.

Recently I was able to attend meeting in San Diego, just love this area! The hotel is incredible, the view is even better. Close to shopping, and great places to eat. The rooms are large and have yet to have a bad view in one of them. Walking is easy to site seeing and everyone is friendly.

Room Tip: Any water view is spectacular
