The location and views from the tower rooms are fantastic. Andrea, at the pool restaurant and bar certainly was an added bonus to our trip. She greeted us daily with her amazing smile, and propt service. She made our trip......oh and the fantastic views from our tower room. Amazing sunsets and ocean views. We felt for a moment that we were in Hawaii. The check in staff were excellent.

So if three stars is just "average", and four stars is "very good", this resort deserves 3 1/2 stars because it is "good" but probably not "very good" or "great". The location of the hotel is great, on the marina with great proximity to Sea World. But the hotel is just not a high end property. The rooms need some upgrading. The photos of the pool area are a bit misleading, as the pools are much smaller than they appear in the photos and not as aesthetically beautiful in real life. Hotel restaurant (Red Marlin) is good and the service, in general, is very good (but not stellar). This is a good hotel if you are coming with kids and planning to visit SeaWorld. (By the way, my kids are much more forgiving and would have ranked this hotel much higher -- the waterslides alone made it great from their perspective.)

I stayed at the Hyatt with my 9 yr old granddaughter and we had such a great time! The amazing woman that checked us in even sent cookies and milk to the room to welcome my granddaughter. We played in the pool for hours while my granddaughter enjoyed the waterslides. The pool service was great and we even bought our Legoland tickets there for a discount. I would definitely recommend this hotel for every type of traveler!

Stayed here since we were attending a friend's wedding. Staff was pleasant and responsive. Nice looking grounds and the pool is great for kids. The location (Mission Bay in general) is crowded and I think the cost is overpriced considering what you get in the way of experience. The Red Marlin restaurant is overpriced considering the quality of food you get (the buffet was nothing more than a large continental breakfast...nothing special...$22 for one). No real complaints...but I basically would only choose this location based on convenience and the fact they offer suites. But nothing really grabbed me considering the price. But that is San Diego.

I travel a fair amount for work and try to stay mainly at Starwood and Marriotts for the points. They all have issues and I am not afraid to say my piece. This hotel, however is in a league of its own. Here is a short list of issues with our room. the AC did not work. The carpet is old and dirty. Lights in the bathroom do not work. The safe in the room does not work. The dead bolt lock on the door does not work.
Clearly I could spend my vacation complaining and playing hopscotch between hotel rooms, but I did not. Its exhausting. If the hotel really cared about its guests, it would not put us into rooms like this. So they don't care and I got the message.

Room Tip: Not sure where the good rooms are, but do not accept a room facing the parking lot in the building o...

Chose this hotel because it's one of about only 3 hotels in SD with pool slides. There are three, and they are simple but pretty entertaining for the kids. Major downside was that the slides closed at 5 or 6 pm when then lifeguard left, which negates using them at the end of the day after visiting any sights. The beds were nice, views of the bay great, and the club food pretty decent mix of stuff although could use more hot foods and more variety for those of us staying more than a couple of nights. Hors d'oeuvres were also pretty good in the evening.

This is very close to SeaWorld, although the 1.3 mile walk is too much for the kids, they don't have a shuttle, and cab wouldn't take 5 of us, so we ended up driving our rental over and paying for parking anyway. IMO if you have a car you can stay anywhere not necessarily here. I agree it sucks to pay for self parking at the hotel but that's what all these hotels rip us off for.

Keep in mind that this hotel is not on a beach, and there are no decent restaurants or shops in walking distance. Marina has water sport rentals and whale watching right there. Red Marlin restaurant had really good food.
