Howard Johnson Inn San Diego Hotel Circle

Seedy, is the single best way to describe this place. Cheap rates are one thing and personal safety and health is quite another. Not only have the beg bugs been confirmed, the problem has yet to be corrected or even taken seriously by management. Fortunately, I know how to check for signs of the presence of bed bugs. Droppings could be found in the mattress seems along with stains from feeding behaviors of the little pests. But, that proved to be the least of the problems when considering the seedy activity taking place upon check in where rooms were being rented for HIGHLY illicit activities that pose a direct threat to the well being of any traveler and their family members. Accordingly, check-in was followed less than 30 minutes later by check-out on the premise of safety and health. Sadly, when the staff was informed of the signs of the presence of bed bugs, there was no surprise.

If you value the safety and health of your family, this place should not even be a consideration!

Poor condition with unstable stairs and upper level banisters that will give way and collapse if an average sized adult were trip and use them for their designed purpose and function.

Howard Johnson corporate office will be well advised to remove their name from this facility.

Stay safe, stay healthy.... STAY AWAY!

You have been warned.

I realize that bed bugs happen. It's kind of par for the course sometimes in budget hotels. At the same time, some of them manage to avoid them or rectify the situation with grace and reason. Not the case here in my opinion. In the first place, the rooms aren't necessarily clean in the first place. Sure, things are wiped down and walkways are vacuumed, but the dust build up and all out dirt along the sides and under the bed suggest cleanliness is not the highest priority. There was also water damage on the ceiling in the bathroom that no one even attempted to fix. The smoke detector was just hanging from the wall by its wire. Still, not too big a deal. It just seems like nobody cares about the place and its showing up in the details. Finally, we found a bed bug in one of our five rooms. We researched it and.confirmed it. After the heebie jeebies were through, we took the bed to the front desk and he confirmed it for us. Although he did move us to a different room, no discount was offered until we spoke to a manager the next day, and that was almost an insult at 25% off from one room, for one night. Aftwr what we will all have to go through (16 of us) to rid ourselves of any potential infestation, that hardly seems compensation.

On top of this, we researched further complaints on this hotel and found our exact room numbers, 310 & 312 in other bed bug reports! Someone is dropping the ball here or just does not care about their guests. Avoid the hassle, stay elsewhere!

Booked this through Priceline, but even with the discount, the room rate will still too much. This isn't a motor hotel - it's a crap motel:

Toilet was running, had to adjust tank kit.

Floor and wall lamps don't work

Freezer doesn't freeze

TV remote volume button doesn't work.

TV picture is fuzzy

Sofa upholstery torn/dirty

Furniture dirty

Only 1/4 roll of toilet paper provided.

Sheets/ towels do not feel fresh; pils on sheets.

Mold in shower.

Noisy.

Room smells like cigarettes.

Very narrow parking spaces.

Room Tip: Only one tip: stay somewhere else.
