I stayed at this hotel during a business trip over the past three days. The hotel is conveniently located to most points of interest in San Diego, there are a lot of places to eat and shop nearby as well. Old Town is fairly close. My stay at the hotel for the most part was pleasant and uneventful. The hotel appears to be somewhat older and in need of a makeover. It was clean, I just didn't care for the decor in the rooms. The hotel has a nice outdoor pool but when I stayed there the water was not heated. The outdoor jacuzzi/spa nearby was nice and big and the jets worked without any problems. Although the gym had just about any cardio piece of equipment you would expect to find in a gym, including free weights, it just seemed sort of dull and tired and not a place where you would enjoy staying for a while to break a sweat. There were a few occasions where I noticed that the meals from room service have been left by the room door for staff to pick up and some of the plates remained in front of the room for an entire day which leads me to believe that the staffing may be a little low. The store/gift shop seemingly had no set hours of operation and for the most part it was hit or miss on when you could go in to grab a snack or whatever. The breakfast if you were an "Aloha member" was complimentary and it was quite decent with everything you would imagine for breakfast available. The rooms as I mentioned need an update although the TV's are flat screen which was nice as was the balcony which you access through a large sliding door. The bathrooms were okay but don't expect to be able to stand under the shower head in the tub unless you are 4 feet tall as the shower head is mounted low on the wall and that is mostly due to the "drop ceiling" over the bathtub. The front desk staff was courteous and my room was made up each of the three days I was there. Overall, the stay was good, price wasn't bad and the location was convenient, the hotel just needs a makeover.
