My wife and I just spent a couple of evenings in San Diego at the Diamond Head Inn. The last couple of trips we've stayed at the Pacific Terrace, which we really enjoy, but its a little pricey at $250+. The Diamond Head Inn is right across the street and looked a little more casual, which it is. Our bottom floor suite ($99/night) included a nice sized bedroom, kitchen w/appliances and silverware/dishes, and a living room area with nice sized TV plus a separate bathroom. It was very clean and nicely decorated and had obviously been remodeled and updated recently. Thursday night was quiet even though the beach access and parking was just a few steps away. Friday about 2 a.m. a few young adults with loud voices and limited vocabulary took up residence on the stairwell outside our bedroom window apparently visiting one of the occupants of one of the other rooms. Calls to the office weren't answered and there didn't seem to be any security on premise. I figured they would wear themselves out which they did about 4-4:30 but the night was shot. We'll probably go back with the whole family the next time and hope for the best since I think the room will work well with the fold out couch and you can't beat the price. I'd like to see the management have security patrol the area on the weekends.
