The hotel is not customer freindly because you need to walk outside to get to the lobby and other hotel areas. The overall apperance was average and the service was ok. Highway noise is somewhat of an issue.

The Comfort Inn Airport at Old Town is a great place to stay if you're looking for a laid back atmosphere, but want easy access to the city. But if you don't like to walk, don't stay here! The hotel is within walking distance (about a 15 min. stroll) to Old Town, which has the best Mexican food in the city and some good souvenir shops and unique boutiques! Plus, walk 5 min. in one direction and you're at the Washington Trolley Station or 20 min. the other way and you're at the Old Town Transit Center. If you're interested in taking a taxi (which you'll need to do if you don't have a car), don't go through the hotel - instead, stick with the Yellow Tax Cab of San Diego (they have the best rates and prompt pick-up).The staff is attentive and the entire hotel, including my room, was SO clean! Although my room overlooked the highway, I never really considered the sounds of traffic to be bothersome - just mere background noise, which I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't read about it in the Sept. 10, 2003, review.

It has a perfect location, walking distance from old town and has 2 close trolley stops from where you can go virtually to any place in San Diego. The rooms are clean, friendly service in the front desk and nice breakfast. Also free internet in the lobby, I trully recomend this hotel! ;)

Do NOT Stay at the Comfort Inn Old Town San Diego - unless you love sleepless nights. The hotel is located directly above the freeway & the noise from the freeway continues all through the night. Extremely noisy. The reservation department will mention how close the airport & Old Town are, but forget for obvious reasons to mention the freeway noise.
